I use a wallet other than MEW, which is freewallet.org

how to ballance tokens at freewallet.org
I personally still use MEW to store tokens, because I still feel comfortable with it so have no other references. But it is also possible to try freewallet. Hopefully it will be a good alternative.

I even don't need to look at this wallet I think while people do not trust even my ether wallet, established open source client side wallet, it is very hard for a new wallet to compete with mew.

I have used MEW for my bounty campaigns that I've been joined, but I don't have a wallet for trading in order to make my tokens into ethereum or bitcoin, and what I am doing is asking for my friend to transact my tokens or to trade using their coin.ph wallet because I don't have any verified coin.ph.
You can do that by yourself by creating an account in any exchange which contains your tokens listed for trade. The exchange like bitterex or binance are most likely common exchanges used by most, you need to verify your account as per the terms you can't always depend on your friend for the transaction and conversion of your tokens.

Or he can simply use decentralized exchange as ForkDelta (EtherDelta), IDEX, Token Store or AirSwap to exchange tokens for Ether. Without the registration, verification and similar bullshit. Wink

the first time i join campaign until today i only use myetherwallet. good thing about mew is you hold your own private key and you can access it anytime. it is safe as long as you secure your private key and follow the tips and guidelines of mew or the tips of other users. i also use metamask to access my mew and i avoid accessing mew with private key.
yes, I agree with you that the use of MEW with private key is a high risk and we should avoid it.
metamask is safer than MEW and I have not heard from users who use metamask so far.

I think the mew has been made in such a way as to not be able to do theft other than obviously is a personal mistake made so mews can be stolen, any addition to maintain the security of the mew is a legitimate and good, but it's good we do not make mistakes.

I think many people are still confused about what MyEtherWallet is. MyEtherWallet is NOT a web wallet in full sense. They do not store your funds. They do not collect or transmit your sensitive information (like your password or private key). You do not have an account with them. MEW simply gives you a way to interact with the ethereum blockchain via their UI. You can even use it offline as a local app on your computer. The ONLY thing they send is your ETH address and broadcast the signed transaction to the blockchain when you generate a TX.

Having that said, MyEtherWallet is one of the best and most popular wallets out there, but here are a few alternatives:
Mist - One of the primary Ethereum wallets used by desktop users. Mist is capable of supporting all ERC20 tokens, including token contracts.
Parity - This wallet is quite popular among Ethereum enthusiasts. Keep in mind that Parity will only watch tokens found in the Token Registry, though.
MetaMask - Browser plugin for Chrome and Firefox that supports ERC20 tokens as well.
imToken - A mobile wallet compatible with Ethereum-based tokens and is available for both Android and iOS

What do you means by balance tokens? Roll Eyes

Freewallet.org is not a wallet like MEW,it is just like online wallet which currently supports upto 90 ERC20 tokens so if you try to send the token which is not supported by that wallet then you may lose it.ANd this wallet have so many issues in the past but thay have a support person on our forum so you can contact him for your queries.

I started to use mycrypto.com since the last compromised DNS Server problems at Myetherwallet. I used MyEtherWallet for couple of years, but mycrypto is also a very good platform for an Ethereum wallet.

You can buy yourself a ledger nano S device, and you will never have to worry again. I don't think that there were ever cases of accounts being hacked if the user had any kind of ledger or trezor device.

If you do not want to use MEW for your ERC-20 tokens then can you use only Metamask. It is not necessary to use MEW with Metamask, because you can use Metamask only without MEW. You can import your private key in Metamask and use it as wallet.

Since I joined this forum and started getting ERC20 altcoins, I only use MyEtherWallet because for me it's simple, safe and secure as long as I am responsible enough for keeping my private keys and don't let outsiders get a copy of my keys, I'm always good.
Freewallet.org is for me a complicated because you can't have a copy of your secret or private key.
There is only one ERC20 wallet that for me is better than any third-party wallets, that is Eidoo Wallet.
But, hackers could be able to steal your keys if you are not careful enough, that's why experts are recommending hardware wallets like Ledger Nano S and Trezor or any hardware wallets available in order to protect your keys from hackers and hijackers.
