you are missing something important: --gpu-threads 2

if your system is crashing you probably have something wrong, what is your psu?
"--gpu-threads 2" and "-g 2" are the same thing...

I know realize I repeated that argument for a long time...

Yes I am a pirate, 300 years too late!
I agree with everything crazyates says.  I have 6 280x's and get between 700-720 on them with those same settings.

Waiting for the 290x's to arrive!!!

DO NOT NEGLECT MY POST. I'm a bit fed of having the solution and being ignored in the middle of the noise when people offer bounties. Read the post to see who to donate it to.

My 7970 can go as high as 820 Kh/s with that.

you are overclocking your card RAM from 1500 to 1800 for just 10 kH/s???

10 kH/s is like a natural fluctuation, nothing i would overclock my ram for, specially not with 300 MHz!

isn't it getting much hotter with this settings?
RAM doesn't add much heat, esp when you're undervolting. The GPU core and RAM share a heatsink, and the temps maybe go up 2-3C when you OC the RAM that far. Temps are sitting at 66C right now, and are consistently <70C.

I have plenty of experience with those Gigabyte 280x. We use dozens of them in our rigs.

First of all, your config files says "-g2". It should be "-g 2". Is your actual bat file missing that space? 550KH/s is what these cards get on one thread with those settings, and with 2 threads you should be >700khs.

Second, use SGminer 4.1.0 (Download here: http://depositfiles.com/files/bagv5ck12 <- not my build, but it's the one I use) with these settings:

--kernel zuikkis --thread-concurrency 8193 --lookup-gap 2 -w 256 -g 2 -I 13 --gpu-fan 80 --gpu-engine 1050 --gpu-memclock 1500

If your card can OC the RAM to >1800, do that. If you can reach 1810 or 1820, go with one of those. If not, just stick with the standard 1500 mem clock. Anything between 1501 and ~1790 is crap for mining.

For core, go with 1070 if you can OC your ram to >1800, and 1060 (or 1050) if you're mem is at 1500. Then, undervolt as low as you can while still stable.

I get ~745khs @ 1060/1500, and ~755khs @ 1070/1810.

If you're only getting 550kh/s, that sounds like it's only running one thread. In s/cgminer, press G, and what does your thread summary say? If it's right, both threads should be ~375khs. If it's off, one thread will say 0, and the second thread will say 550khs. If that's the case, you can try a few things:

1) flash this modified BIOS: https://litecointalk.org/index.php?topic=12369.msg91306#msg91306
2) if you want to modify that BIOS even farther, undervolt it with VBE7.
3) if you're getting that weird thing where it's mining with 2 threads, but only one of them is really hashing, bump up your voltage a little bit. Not above stock, but just undervolt a little less.
4) do NOT use the 14.1 drivers. Use the 13.12 or 13.11b drivers with the APP SDK 2.9.
5) Just set a static fan to 80%, and don't do any temp monitor or auto-fan or anything like that. Also, don't run any temp-sensor software when mining (besides s/cgminer). I drop from 755 to 725 when I open GPUz to monitor the sensors tab.

Hope this helps. You can PM me any questions if you have any.

What PSU do you have?

Also, you wrote in your config that you linked "-g2" - should be "-g 2" (with space).

Usually a system reset is occurring because the computer is trying to protect itself.

try to run it without Monitor. Monitor is taking  100-200 kHashes from your card. If you load it it could take even more.

I'd advise to move to Windows 8.1 anyway, to save a lot of hassle in the long run to get 6 GPU's running.

Check out this guide:

http://www.gobitgo.com/articles/1002/How-to-Mine-with-6-GPU/

Try these settings:

setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
C:\Users\Username\Desktop\cgminer-3.7.2-windows\cgminer.exe --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://stratum.pool.com:3333 -u x -p x --lookup-gap 2 --thread-concurrency 11200 -g 2 -I 13 -w 256 --auto-fan --gpu-fan 30-75 --temp-cutoff 85 --temp-overheat 80 --temp-target 72 --gpu-memclock 1500 --gpu-engine 1050 --gpu-powertune -20 --expiry 1 --scan-time 1 --queue 0 --no-submit-stale

If you still get low hashrates on your cards, check out this topic:

try using cgminer 3.7.2

try 1080/1500 or 1100/1800, also try tc at 8192 or 8191.
you should also have gpu-threads 2 set to get higher #rate

also i get best results for 3x280 with diff settings for each. Just try diff settings and look for stability

Update to this.

It is crashing my rig now. Start up cgminer/sgminer with anything apart from basic settings it restarts the comp.

Tried win 7/different mobo/different PSU same result

I would recommend SGMiner 4.0.0 + optimized TC 8192 .bin.  Link is in my sig.

Your config is good though, i would suspect a driver platform issue.

Hi Guys,

Tried those settings still in the 550 rate Sad

Will put a bounty of 0.1BTC for someone to be able to get 6 cards reliably hashing at 700-730 each on this board

I used -g 2 -TC 8193 (seems to get better results).  As for clock speed, it depends upon the card/bios.  I've found with my undervolted bios I'm at 1075, whereas on another I'm at 1165.

In short, each card is a little different and you may need to play with it awhile.

Geister?! Geister?! Geister???!! Weißbroooot!
try -g 1 and try an other thread conncurrency. Go in 10 point steps up or down. for example my TC sweet spot is 8215

Edit: setting -g 2 was terrbile for my gpu. Hashrate dropped down to 400 kh/s. Core-Clock is at 1050. Anything under or above is also resulting in drops. Mem-Clock is stock @ 1500
My graphics card is gigabyte r9 280x rev. 2

Hi Guys,

Just a bit of a issue.

I have  the Asrock H81 BTC Pro Board with 4gb ram on win7 64 bit. I current hash at 560 or so with 1 GPU on a powered USB 3 riser.

With the same settings on another rig i get 700-730 normally.

I am going to install win 8.1 and test it again but is there anything different i need to change in the config?

setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100

setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1

C:\Users\Miner1\Desktop\cgminer-3.7.2-windows\cgminer.exe --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://stratumxxxxxxx -u -p --gpu-platform 0 -I 13 -g2 --auto-fan --temp-cutoff 85 ^ --lookup-gap 2 --thread-concurrency 8192 --gpu-engine 1055 --gpu-memclock 1500 -w 256

Give me the config that will make my cards hash at 700+ (rumors city can hash 730) i will give you 0.10 BTC.
