if your set on smos try creating the usb again.
do a fresh install, but first even though your only using one card right now plug in both molexs.
even if it appears to be a black screen maybe give it a few minutes, I've had a similar issue where I thought it crashed, the light on my USB wasnt showing activity anymore I simply removed the USB and plugged it back in ( not rebooting just during what I thought was a failed install) and it then started chugging along.

I tryed removing the gpu and using the onboard for video and the boot goes further but has a failure and has a terminal saying try "gpumon" and when i do it says permission denied

I just got the ASRock h81 Pro BTC and a intel celeron G1820 CPU to upgread my rigs motherboard.
I dont use Risers as im only mining with 1x R9 270x
Im trying to boot from a USB stick with SMOS linux 1.3 and it gets halfway through the boot and fails / blackscreen / crash
Anyone able to help me out?
