Finally...

Consider solve and will run with that for now.

DDU to clear all driver and flash install 17.4.3 driver - just google you will get it

1. Using 17.4.3, no driver verification.
2. Just using the standard step to mod the bios
3. reboot and run..

Not sure this is normal, when 1st run, I only get 14MH/s and need to use afterburner to crank the core and memory to their normal value. and rerun the miner will get me 28MH/s.
No time to tune it to other setting yet.

Good luck to others and hope you dont need to thru like flash for 10th time then got the "working" version.

Another issue I faced is the RX need to be connected to monitor (I am using 1080ti as primary) and if I either unplug the monitor cable or I choose to configure it as single display instead of extended, it will HANG!

any guru here can help?

Tried and the Win10 keep stopping when it detected the ATI is not digitally signed!!

I already boot the W10 with F7 option.

Any clue??

What I mean is if I copied the modified .sys file to replace the original file, when I run driver install, it will detect the file as non digitally signed. and stop there.

I have the same RX 480 cards running in Windows 10 and the 17.5.2 drivers. All you should need to do after modding the BIOS is run the pixel patcher to bypass the signature check.

https://www.monitortests.com/forum/Thread-AMD-ATI-Pixel-Clock-Patcher

I would uninstall the drivers in safe mode using DDU, install the drivers and run the pixel patcher before you reboot.

I tired that few times with the pixel patcher unless it been updated sense  the 17 driver came out i haven't checked  it didn't work for me on my 500 series card or 400 cards but did with my R9 280...with the 17 drivers   go figure he did it follow him i couldn't get it to .. on the any of the 17 driver but could with any driver below 17.

I did it right in safe mode with DDU and with Driver signing off ... in win 10 normal boot up after i uninstalled the drivers then found the video on windows YouTube .

he did it follow him ... I'm gonna give it another try ......

I have the original bios and flashed back and now it runs as stock. And yes I am on W10.

Now to have the mod, you mean I need to use the older driver 16.11?

which video and how to do the patch that you mentioned? I dont mind try it.

Do note that I will be using it together with another 1080ti once it is done and supported.

Thanks

YUP, either use a older version of the driver that works or use Driver version 16.12 with this patch https://www.techpowerup.com/228536/amd-bios-signature-check-re-enabled-with-relive-locks-out-polaris-bios-modders or use the YouTube way with the 16.12 patch, id have to find it again after i saw what it takes, i said F*** it, just didn't feel like dealing with it ATM or I would post that YouTube Video.

There shouldn't be any problems with the NV card mixed with a AMD card, i do it now with a GTX 1060 just install the NV and the AMD driver, it works great ..

I think I found this one:

IF they are AMD cards and you are using the new drivers with a AMD modded bios that might be why, they re enabled driver signing with driver version Crimson ReLive Edition 16.12.2 and up, so if the modded bios is not driver signed right in windows 8 or 10, if you are using either OS mainly with Win 10. the drivers won't install right and you get what you see now ..

There is a patch you can do for installing the driver for 16.12.2 that is pretty easy to do but not so easy for any of the 17 drivers ..it can be done, i found a way on YouTube but it's a pain, so i leave all my AMD cards at stock and default settings now ..

make sure you flash it back to the right untouched bios it came with or look up your card here : https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios if you didn't back it up or use any driver version 16 below the one i said .. i think they started turning driver signing back on @ driver version Crimson ReLive Edition 16.12.2. if you have a 570 or 580 like me your F*** as far as modding the bios goes or find that way on YouTube and use it. because driver version 17 added support for  570 an 580 and any driver below that didn't work for me or install my one 570 .I have a mix of AMD cards starting at R9 280 up to AMD 570 ..total of 10 cards, one is a NV GTX 1060 ...

Do you have any other video card installed on the computer ?

No I removed all. everytime I flashed to mod bios, both the afterburner or GPZ or miner cannot detect it.

Windows Device manager also reported with ! mark. but display resolution is ok.

Really not sure if this is because Asus Strix version cannot support?

Thanks

Any pointer here as i tried to follow the step to mod the BIOS.

But after success flashed and rebooted, the miner cannot see any OpenCL device and the same too MSI afterburner or GPUZ.
When I reflash to the original, all back to normal but the RX480 is still only with 24MH/s

Step is:
save the original BIOS as backup
Polaris editor to load the BIOS and edit by copy 1750 timing to 2000, save to a mod bios file
ATIflash and program the above and all shows success and reboot.

Then its not running as OpenCL device. I also upgraded to latest driver 17.xx and still not working.

Any pointer are appreciated.

Cheers

additional: this is Asus Strix 480 with 8G
CPUZ read it as Ellesmere

Current config
- Win10 64 bit
- using single RX480 fro the mod
- with latest 17.xx driver

Updated the title to read clearly
added more detail of my issue and setup
