...? When people say the moon it's just saying basically the sky is the limit. There's no certain price that would be a moon landing. Maybe something ridiculous like 100k or 1M.

Your taking this post abit to serious, i do understand what it means to say we are going to the moon, i was just wanting to gauge what people thought was the price when bitcoin had made it.  and i dont think bitcoin will ever reach a million.

Oh sorry I thought you were asking a question to be answered not to cause stupid nonsense answers for signature spammers. My mistake.

It depends from person to person, I have seen some predict the price is going to reach 50k others have predicted millions, for those that bought when bitcoin was worth a dollar we are already in the moon, so there is no definitive answer.

In my view the price is not going to go above $~10000 for a long time.  Bitcoin might have the potential to be a widely used currency but for at least a few years it has its place.  The US dollar, Euro and more aren't just going to instantly collapse and fall to the mighty Bitcoin.

Bitcoin is amazing but it has branding issues and the decentralisation means that it can't speak for itself, other people have to speak for it.  Governments' control over currency means that they can integrate information about their official currency and press it onto us throughout our lives.  People really aren't very smart, and that's why Bitcoin's biggest use is among investors and illegal activities - people are often either looking to make money from having or trading it or they're looking to make money by trying to stay anonymous with it.  This will make it take time.

The price that I see here is being pumped and will correct back to near $1150 before striking back above $1300, because this market is booming too fast and to me, it seems like a bubble being prepared and a burst may also take place ahead in the near future.

It had been playing at around $1200 to $1300 now.
So I guess this our base for now. Looking forward in doubling the price again.
Question is will it be permitted by those who are doing bad things just to make bitcoin look bad to people.
I have seen they are trying to pursue people to see that transactions are getting longer than before to make it look bad.

Thats true. I expect on short term that we move down to some consolidation movement around 1100$. After that the next wave will likely start. We are now on mount 'stupid' -> if we dont break trough 1220 EUR we will move down. We will see how things play out. But 100k is very, very far away. Just like the moon  Wink

i want to be with you man but 100k is very far away we are struggling at $1500 and below and you are talking about 100k lol, it's betetr to fly low and think about $5k first then 10k and maybe if adoption come we can think really huge, if the EFT was approved we would be at $10k right now, too bad it didn't happen

I hate people on here that don't simply get the point that Bitcoin can't go through this entire crazy blast off of it's price if it wants to be taken as a serious CURRENCY in the world that is going to be able to be used and adopted by most people who don't even fully understand how it works.

When people use Fiat Currency, they're using something in which they knows is going to be worth the same amount the next day (minus the obvious inflation that people know about) they don't want to use a currency like bitcoin that has such a volatile marketplace when it comes for what its worth.

Bitcoin needs to be stable, once people hope for this we'll be set.

It will never be a widespread currency. It simply ain't designed that way. Humans won't spend something that might be worth more tomorrow especially when they already have usd or whatever.

If satoshi had been realistic about that there would've been an eternal 1-2% inflation.

I think bitcoin can be widespread if governments ban cash, otherwise I dont see why people is going to bother looking for alternatives, so it will remain a better gold that people use to save their wealth from collapsing inflationary currencies. Who wants to waste btc on groceries?

That's really ridiculous price. I don't ever think bitcoin will reach $10,000 in the future or its decimal being the moon landing for bitcoin.

With the hardfork in the future and the price will be going down to the bottom again.

It have to be a ridiculous price because it was going to the moon after all. Remember, that going to the space is regarded as crazy before. SO is bitcoin price reaching 10K. If it is not a ridiculous price then it is not mooning, it is just a regular price surge.

Well personally I'd say that this year, $1,500 before the end of the year is quite realistic. I wouldn't talk about a price that is above $10,000 any time soon yet as there is no signs that bitcoin will go that mainstream in such a short period of time.

However, after that ETF disappointment the price didn't drop at all and in fact increased, which makes me optimistic about things. If everything goes well this year, $2,500 would be possible. Even $3,000 which would put the market cap over 50 billion dollars.

Remember how the bitcoin bears said that the ATH would never be achieved again at the 2013 ATH. Well here you go - the ATH has been broken and every day we are setting more and more records.

I think $1500-$2000 is possible at the end of this year. We are already past the hype on the ETF approval and no effect to the price as well. On the contrary, in put bitcoin in the notice to many speculators and probably thinking investment on bitcoin. So is safe to say that the future is really looking very good for bitcoin and hope to get $2000 or more at the end of the year. And 2017 will potentially the biggest year in bitcoin history if ever.

With a current difficulty level $1800 would be orbiting the moon and $2800 is somehow landing on the surface. with bitcoin code settings in place and the predictability of supply which is 1 block every 10 minutes in average price increase been an intentionally implemented and well designed.

We cannot able to say this is a moon value for bitcoin because as supply and demand increases for bitcoin automatically price is also will increase and as years move then value for all the stocks around the world will increase. So it is not possible to speculate that.

It all depends on the different aspects on how we interpret what the correct and expected price at a certain level, for example in the beginning at price of over $20 was considered to a very high price for bitcoin and during those days no one expected it to reach $100 and when that level was broken it was considered moon landing and then came the $1000 range and we really cannot predict what a good landing would be but for me anything more than what i invested is a good thing.

For this maybe bitcoin goes up until 3000$ but who knows its landing goes up to moon. As they said bitcoin goes landing to the moon i hope that too and many trader wait that time too. and to those big holders of bitcoin they wish that bitcoin goes to the moon and many holders become millionaire if that happen.

If you look the moon level amount means you should go with the Satoshi's speculations. Bitcoin will reach to 10,000$ soon and that would be best amount for us think we are on top. As he speculates, price we are seeing is just a scratch amount. We are miles. Hereafter bump bump always in the price chart.

For me, BTC has moon landed already. I remember the time when its price crashed and people were panicking and now it is beyond everything people imagined at that time. However, to add something for the future, I think BTC will land on the next planet when reaching $10k. It will be the next big milestone in a logarithmic scale ))
True.  This moon thing doesn't really make sense, because Bitcoin is at a very high price right now to what you would expect it to be.  Bitcoin isn't suddenly going to have its price fly up to the stars forever, there needs to be a genuine grounding for it, and it'll go planet by planet.  Next stop, Mars, will be around $3-4k.
This figurative speech really is nothing, moon price huh? As long as I know the bitcoin price now is so high almost double the price of the bitcoin I used to get last year. Moreover, if its price spiked again these month, that is really good for me.

Yes there is nothing as such as moon landing here in bitcoin as of now all we can say is that bitcoin's value is increasing day by day and it will reach $3000 by the end of 2020 as per my calculation based on the trend of last 3 years.

But right now the node count is falling. Full nodes are dropping like flies and the network is growing more vulnerable every day.

hmm, aren't you a bit too dramatic?
according to https://bitnodes.21.co/ we have 6300 active bitcoin nodes right now. and whenever i check this site and the stats every now and them it is around the same number. actually it was 5000 nodes before.

so what do you mean by "right now node count is falling"?!!
yes the number of nodes is increasing and not decreasing. in fact as more and more time pass the need of modes to increase is in increasing because the traffic is increasing from time to time.

When the price surges up like a rocket, that is bitcoin mooning. But that does not mean it will land to the moon. That price can get as high as you can imagine, but it will still be going up to the moon. There is no limit, no set price that means it landed to the moon. It means bitcoin know no limit in terms of price.

There isn't any immediate limit for the price of Bitcoin. Each Bitcoin could cost about $1,000,000 per coin and it wouldn't be enough to some people. If the people that purchase Bitcoin hold on to their coins for years then they wouldn't be yelling moon because they would be too busy shopping for Lambo's and other rich people stuff.
A bunch of guys and gals will be happy to see Bitcoin at a high price like that.

$1,000,000 is quite a bit of money lol.

so, if the sky is the limit, then $2000-$5000 for 1 bitcoin is fair enough to be moon landing because we cannot predict how much the price will be or in other words, we do not know the limit. 100k or 1M is too high for moon landing.

moon is usually a big rise and doesn't have to be a specific number. usually when price goes up for example a 10-20% and people get a big profit in a short time they start saying it was moon.
but the real highest price in my opinion doesn't exist. as long as bitcoin is growing and getting adopted the price can go up even past 10,000

"We choose to go to the Moon!" was a speech delivered by JFK in 1962. Basically, it is to say that we are ready for challenges and going to achieve something very difficult...

Quote
We choose to go to the Moon! ... We choose to go to the Moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard; because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one we intend to win ...

no one would think of landing moon and to the moon just review words that mean as the moon is above us (maybe). but if I think how the moon landing is $10,000 was too high probably around $2,000 for landings in this year

$10,000 for a single Bitcoin sounds about right. When or if Bitcoin reaches that number, the amount of USD will just keep flocking in and the price of Bitcoin will become more expensive to spend or purchase. I am sure that the moon phrase won't stop because once it reaches $10,001 newbies will be posting moon pictures and rockets.

For now I think that moon price would be $10,000 and after that is beyond the moon. I hope many people learn to hold their coins.

To the moon is just a saying. The point is that the price should keep rising without stopping. Nobody can put a price on the 'moon landing' as no matter what BTC price reaches (in USD terms) people will always want it to reach the moon. In other words, for some people the moon landing will be at $10k whereas for others it could be at $50k. It's all subjective and has no actual real set value.

I believe 10k, 100k and 1 million USD is possible over the next 4, 8 or 16 years if the network remains secure and reliable. But right now the node count is falling. Full nodes are dropping like flies and the network is growing more vulnerable every day.  As the node count falls the remaining nodes have to pick up the slack increasing costs. The cost of running a full node is only growing and will continue to grow for the foreseeable future. The price of bitcoin is irrelevant to node operators because they don't earn any money from running full nodes. If we can stabilize the node count and scale the transaction per sec count then "the skies the limit".
