I’m sorry to hear you’ve been a victim of crime. Thank you for taking the time to report to Action Fraud.
Our aim at Action Fraud is to make the process of reporting fraud and internet crime easier. Reports received are sent to our National Fraud Intelligence Bureau (NFIB).
Experts, including police fraud specialists, at the NFIB will review the information which you have given us and where possible match it against other information they have, to check the fraud and see if it matches other reports. They assess whether there is enough evidence for the police (or another law enforcement organisation such as Trading Standards) to investigate your fraud.
The NFIB aims to send you an update on your fraud report, in writing, as soon as possible but in any event before 28 days. Unfortunately we are currently receiving an unusually high amount of demand and although we will make every effort to reach our commitment to you, we may temporarily, be unable to do so on this occasion. Please bear with us and we will be in contact about your report as soon as we possibly can.
Please be assured that by contacting us you are giving the police and other Law Enforcement Agencies vital information that they need to protect you and others. The information you provided can be used to disrupt criminal activity as well as used for prevention advice and campaigns.
You should keep safe all items and materials, including any records and notes, both written, printed, on computer and anywhere else otherwise recorded, as they may be important to help investigate the matter. You can add new and additional details to your crime report at any time. Any further details you have or can remember will help the police. You can find help and support online at
www.actionfraud.police.uk or by calling 0300 123 2040.
If you would like more information on how to protect yourself from fraud, there is information on our website at

Thank you for taking the time to report and helping us to make the UK a safer place for you and others.
Yours sincerely,
