It seems that the people want to explain the current global falling on the crypto exchange markets in such a way. Now Bitcoin -10%, ostensibly the hackers are guilty. Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

I think it is just a temporary correction. Some investors decided to exit to fiat currency. Probably, they know the reason, why. Maybe, we are expecting a big fall on the traditional fund markets in the near future?
LOL. I think it's true. No hacker related to this dump and Binance is not hacked as well Smiley). Everywhen the market dump, people try to find out the reason for it although it's normal thing happen everyday in crypto market and this time the main reason for this dump because Binance was hacked. LOL. I think my Binance account still save cause there are no email sent to me to notify about withdraw from my account Smiley)
Binance itself was not hacked but the users account has been hacked a long time ago whereas the hackers were going to carry out the operation before they got nabbed. However, this has nothing to do with the drop in value of btc itself since no funds were affected anyway.

The only thing is that the coins were being exchanged from btc to another currency which binance suspected as btc was getting dumped and the coin was getting seriously pumped, before they realized it was an attempt from a single source and quickly averted it before they were able to do anything and even the hacker’s funds were withheld.

you should not too be worried. the Binance has announced that the hackers did not draw any amount of money. it is a good news and i believe the market will recover soon

I see this as more likely another fud as so I still keep my funds in Binance and didn't bother believe to all that hacking incident. Yes binance had told us everything is safe and to think greedy people are just using binance issue to spread fears and doubt and to shaken weak hands. This is just another drama and good thing I use 2FA Authenticator so it's hard for them to access my account.

All funds are safe. There were irregularities in trading activity, automatic alarms triggered.  Some accounts may have been compromised by phishing from before.  We are still investigating.  All funds are safe.
https://twitter.com/cz_binance
I think everything is in order just apparently some came across a fake site

This information is causing a lot of attention. It's not really clear, because I doubt it's a duplication of what the Chinese government has been up to lately. We still need more time to determine the right thing to do.

Yeah, all my funds too are safe and from the look of things, it only affected some few accounts that was hacked a while back as they only used this moment to just want to carry out the operation without getting noticed and I am happy that binance was at least able to detect the irregularities that happened during this time. The hackers were smart, but I guess they were not smart enough. People really need to be very careful about phishing sites as that was how the hackers were able to get a hold of those accounts.

There are several topics over the internet about this. It might be fake, I admit, but there is no harm in checking your account, right?
It is not fake news as binance made this clear on their site. No funds were stolen but some were converted to VIA I think which was the coin, the hackers were trying to do exchanges with to move it out of the hacked users account. Operations have started already since then on binance and they have told the users affected that they will have to do the conversion back to the converted coin by themselves. A friend of mine was affected, but it is good that binance was at least able to get this sorted.

Very good of them to have detected it very fast considering how the hackers have been planning the whole thing all along for the accounts they were able to hack using their APIs. Even despite the fact that they were trying to trade on those accounts before withdrawing, they still got nabbed and then the fun part of it all was the fact that the hackers were the ones who ended up losing their funds. What a turnaround, where the hunter got hunted.

So this is why you should never hold coins for long in an exchange. If there is something bad happen in an exchange like phising or the exchange getting attack by hacker, you will be sorry for your coins. I hope this is just a false alarm and the problem be fix asap because i know binance is such a good exchange.

As per the Binance CEO's statement all funds are safe and many users are confirming that their funds are also safe so I think the hack was not happened that much so it was just a rumor spreading again to keep the bitcoin price low.So investors don't get panic and move your funds to your wallet if you are not doing trade too often.

My all funds are safe and haven't seen any suspicious trading activity in my account, I think only those who have created API keys or used trading bots were affected with this.

If fault is in binance side than they might compensate losses to their users.

Yes problem solved

Binance has reversed all irregular trades.  All deposit, trading and withdrawal are resumed.  will write a more detailed account of what happened shortly. Interestingly, the hackers lost coins during this attempt.  We will donate this to Binance Charity.

I am a Binance user myself and I just checked my account. Good thing that my balance of all coins/tokens that I am holding is safe. I have a lot of trust in Binance, because they are the best cryptocurrency exchanger as of today.

I don't have any problem with them disabling all withdrawals up to this time because I know security is their priority. I am holding some tokens there, especially TRX.

I must say that Binance has really handled this in an excellent way. I also hope this serves as a reminder to always check the address of the website you're on before logging in.
Can't believe that so many people still get hacked through phishing. Also, keep 2FA on at all times.

I really hope that this news gets picked up by some of the bigger Bitcoin news websites.

Indeed, having 2FA is more secure. Also, AFAIK the hacking incident is on its API's where in those using  it was only affected like in using robot in trading. If a hacker knows your code, then they can make transaction on your behalf and play with your funds. i hope this will get clarified.

Its either one story or the another. If this is true, then I hope the CEO fix it immediately but if not; we truly hope it never happens. Cause some news are still saying the information is a rumour.
Don't need to worry about that read the twitter announcement from the binance devs and you will be fine as long as your truly securing your account following the safety and basic precaution against hacking, by the way, the hacking took its place from the bots based on the rumors but the support page shows that it is an attempted Phishing and stealing incident so hackers used API keys VIA/BTC.

they handled it fast and in a great way , everybody has their money back the same day. they showed a lot of exchanges how to handle things like this.
Yes they've handled the stealing incident with a haste to stop the withdrawals and the hackers own coins they truly deserve that.

Last when i checked(an hour ago) all my balance(i have less than $200 there) on binance is safe. the only people who've been affected appear to be using API. since 2014 i have never kept large amount on exchanges, i buy and withdraw.

It was not actually the people using API that was affected, the hackers already logged into the account through a phishing attempt that some people fell for and generated API from these accounts which they were now making use of to get the funds exchanged and moved out before Binance noticed the strange and abnormal irregularity in the prices of Via and BTC, but it seems the way news work, people have decided to attribute it to the drop in price.

Here is a link from binance itself on what really happened. https://support.binance.com/hc/en-us/articles/360001547431-Summary-of-the-Phishing-and-Attempted-Stealing-Incident-on-Binance

Yes, already the CEO of binance announced almost all funds are safe, now hackers targeted the Binance exchange because now it is most reputable exchange with more investors in it.

Thanks,, that’s a good news and glad Binance technical team found the cause in short period of time..

I am not still into bitcoin when Mt. Gox hack happened but I always read from the OGs to not leave your coins in an exchange because you do not own your coins when you put it there. From this recent hack with binance, it is said that the target is not really the coins in binance but rather to spread FUD so that their order in other exchanges would be hit. With binance being a big exchange, it would be a great deal if something happened and the hackers anticipated the withdrawals would be suspended so they put low buy orders in various exchanges cause they know once the news spread, prices would crash and they call it decentralized hack.

Good thing that binance was able to act fast in this recent event. They may have gained more trust from other traders but for some, they lose trust in exchanges.

They are just a bunch of ignorants. They are not knowledgeable enough to construct a counter plan against these hackers or mark it as not worth it. Let me tell you, they will miss this, big time. What they should do now is to examine the flaws they have on their securities through white hats.

What the fuck! I quickly went to my Binance account now to check and everything seems okay to me. At least the little Ethereum I left there for buying some altcoins are still in tact. But if this news is true, then hell, we can't trust any exchange again. I left Bittrex for Binance hoping things would be better here, now this. Anyway for anyone who cares to listen; do not leave your huge investment in any exchange!

Yes, everything seems normal to see and I'm did not lose anything. Looks like its either only a few has been affected by the allege hack or this is simply another fake news to bring the market to its knees. I don't know how much we shed after the news has broke out, but I'm sure that billions was lost to the total market cap. Of course, we have been shouting all over the forum to not put all your funds in a trading platform. Just keep enough for your trading and the rest to your wallet which you have total control.

they handled it fast and in a great way , everybody has their money back the same day. they showed a lot of exchanges how to handle things like this.

Yeah, at least Binance was very attentive and shows why they are the number 1 trading platform today. They have up the bar and I hope that other exchanges will also learn from them especially handling critical issues that has affected their customers.

The main takeaway from this is that we need to keep most of our coins off exchanges. Binance is probably a legitimate exchange and I like using it, but you never know when an exchange will get hacked or compromised in some way. I learned the hard way with Cryptsy a few years ago. I lost a decent amount of money on that exchange when they closed.

My favorite trading site is now having a difficult time of controversy’s like this.. Thanks for sharing this information as I really have no idea about it until I read your post.. If this is fake and just marketing strategy by competitors they should be ashamed for a desperate move like this,, it is unacceptable..

This event has to be verified as I don’t have bad experience on that exchange.. Better be safe than sorry in the end,, I will check my account after this.. Maybe it is one of the reason a decrease of price happens again..

Of course this will be just short lived correction. Investors always to that kind of moved when the price is going down, some of them cash it out and then waited it out to see what going on with that market.  I don't think that we should be expecting a big fall. Its that this news really contributed to the downward trend that we witnessed today. If everything settles down in the next couple of days, then we are going to bounce back again. Although, the timing of this news is very bad because we have been enjoying some semblance of a rally in the last couple of weeks.

Is someone creating this ruckus just so they could take down binance which have been popular these days. That could be possible right?
It is all just fluctuations for me. Even with bitcoin which lost like $1000 by now. It is still normal.
ETH have been hit too. Well, you gotta thank Tether for that, for traders could really escape faster by now.

After reading this news around social media i immediately check my account on binance and everything is great, i don't know about this API and bot issues but it seems that binance looks normal for me (as of now in my own experience), i guess some people should be more careful on website they are entering as it can compromise their investment although it's common not to store large amount of coins on exchange and if you do so just buy and trade in just a short term to lessen the risk for this kind of issues.

Is it known what bot it is?
Usually a bot runs at the users PC/server, so it should be impossible to hack all at once.
Only if all the bots run on the developers server, it is possible to get access to all of them.

So: never use a trading bot at websites. Always run it in your own environment.

Not as far as I know. Nobody specified the name of the bot anywhere.

LOL. I think it's true. No hacker related to this dump and Binance is not hacked as well Smiley). Everywhen the market dump, people try to find out the reason for it although it's normal thing happen everyday in crypto market and this time the main reason for this dump because Binance was hacked. That would be a bad explanation for the current market.
The problem reported is that the coins were sold for BTC without user knowledge.
That could explain the drop in price for some coins, but it would have paired with an increase of BTC price, which didn't happen.

All funds are safe. There were irregularities in trading activity, automatic alarms triggered.  Some accounts may have been compromised by phishing from before.  We are still investigating.  All funds are safe.

I think everything is in order just apparently some came across a fake site

There are several topics over the internet about this. It might be fake, I admit, but there is no harm in checking your account, right?
