Were you ever able to find a fix for this?
Sidehacks's DPS breakout boards have gpio pins for auto power on I think. You could possible rig something up from a sata to pcie adaptor (saves ruining the genuine cables) off the atx so it would switch the server psu on.
You have to solder a cap, a transistor and a resistor on it to have a slightly delayed PS_ON. I've seen it some time ago. Serach for it. It works, I tried it.
The breakout board had a power button, but the problem is that if the rig freezes and I have to power cycle it then it won't turn on as the server psu won't turn on by itself.
You can buy a breakout board with 10 PCI-E cables for less than $20 and a pico psu for $15-20 off AliExpress.
Meh, I would just buy a breakout board with a power switch, and/or utilize the pico adapter and dump the ATX supply if you are just using it to power you motherboard. Sure you can search for a proper pin-out and do some type of hack, but if you mess up you could short out the PSU. Since most server PSUs are already used or refurbished they probably do not come with warranty and you would probably be out more than the $30 for a simple pico adapter or breakout board. There are some things to save money on and some things it is best to just do correctly.
hmm, I was searching for the same thing. I found a picture displaying psu pins and shorting the pin 33 and the pin 36 starts the psu, so was thinking to
take 2 wiers and connect them to this 2 pins, on the other end connecting them to ATX plug(green wire and black wire). BUT I didn't have time yet to do it.

On one of my mining rigs I'm running a standard atx power supply as well as a 1200w hp server psu. The way it's setup now, I have no way of turning the server psu on automatically if I have to reset power. I know with just a server psu by itself I could use a pico adapter to plug into motherboard to have it work like a normal psu but is there a way to wire it so I can run both and get the same functionality?
