Well here we are just over a decade later and I'd like to say a warm Hi! to everyone/anyone who's still around from that era, and an especial huge thanks to the Legendary Casascius for providing the best 'cold storage' ever, I've long since sold all my digital coins over the years, and the ATHs, but I hung on to all of my physicals, in fact I fished my first one out of the bank security box where it's lived for so long and peeled it yesterday, I've never peeled before and it was an exciting, and a little nerve racking, an experience to say the least.

I've just had my offer accepted on an extremely nice apartment next door to one of mine and I'm going to need some extra cash in about three months time to complete on that, and then hopefully to convert them into a stunning double lateral one.

I used a Ballet wallet to import the bitcoin private keys, which also included the major forked coins:

BCH Bitcoin Cash, BSV Bitcoin SV, XEC eCash, BTG Bitcoin Gold, BCD Bitcoin Diamond. Their total value was approx. $200

The Ballet wallet worked brilliantly, you just need to find out how to turn on the 'expert' mode in order to import private keys.

I then sent the bitcoin to my main vanity addie 1otohotohMoQoxHuxLBveQiZcV3Pji3Tc for now, eventually it'll go to Bitstamp, along with some others.

https://casasciustracker.com/ shows the peeled coin: https://www.blockstream.info/address/13CwnigvhNucwGnyvS5r5h9TzcTTJHW72r

http://www.casascius.com/fulllist.txt Ctrl F to search, was handy for finding the full public address from the First bits one on the coin: 13Cwnigv

There are still some shitcoin forked coins left on it, these probably aren't worth trying to harvest https://findmycoins.ninja/ with: 13CwnigvhNucwGnyvS5r5h9TzcTTJHW72r

Eventually I'll probably get the redeemed coins graded by ICG and sell them for a few hundred dollars each on eBay, or somewhere.

Just an interesting discussion topic:  I was thinking, not for this auction, but for a future auction, including a potentially valuable giveaway available only to those who have ordered 100 or more coins from me before I shut down my order taking, or those who are visibly and actively reselling coins.

The giveaway would be: One uncut original sheet of 330 private keys from the series 1 set, which I will not be using due to the holograms having the spelling error, and are otherwise garbage.  The holograms would not be included.  I have maybe 10 such sheets, and giving them away would be no security concern because the keys will never be used in coins.  They are the only copy of the keys they contain.  This would be offered to deliberately prejudice the bidding toward those reselling the coins.  Others could bid but wouldn't be eligible to get the bonus item.  The sheets aren't something I'd sell separately (I consider it cheesy to sell "self-memorabilia"), but might make for a prized giveaway to honor and reward those who are making local markets for these.

I'm interested in feedback on the idea to help me decide whether to offer that.

I would say that is a good idea, maybe if you frame it and sign it with a couple of unused coin blanks or something and post a photo of it, might generate some interest.

Rock on!  You mentioned you won't be giving any confirmation or anything.  So I assume that means no tracking info.  No worries. I'll just excitedly look at my mail tomorrow, but I'm guessing I may have to wait until Monday when I get back in town.

Cheers!  Thanks for the update!

OK, just so everyone is aware, most of my opportunity to handle Bitcoin shipping is on the weekends.  It's very likely that these will not ship out until next weekend unless I catch a break during the week.
...

Have these (and/or the 0.5 BTC rolls) been shipped out yet? No rush - just looking for an update. Thanks.

OK, just so everyone is aware, most of my opportunity to handle Bitcoin shipping is on the weekends.  It's very likely that these will not ship out until next weekend unless I catch a break during the week.

Also, I use a rather paranoid approach to accepting Bitcoin payments.  I must manually check for the payments, so I will not be sending out notifications acknowledging the payment.  Rather... I have published signed payment addresses, and so if you've paid and it's in the blockchain, you've got indisputable proof that you've paid, so the "end game" in any misunderstanding is in your favor.

If your payment is in the blockchain at the address I asked you to pay, and the PGP signature is valid, (and especially if you're able to prove control of the sending address)... then... you've paid!  The worst case is that if I can't find your payment, I will prepare your order anyway, but will contact you and just not mail it until I'm satisfied the payment arrived (e.g. I sent you a PGP-signed private address or whatever).  As a personal policy, I do not ask anyone to send Bitcoins to me without digitally signing a message containing the bitcoin address.

If you walk me through how to do something like that, I'll gladly do it.  Sorry, I'm not as techno saavy as others in this space, but can learn!

Here's to hoping you find a break this week to ship those coins Smiley

If someone else wants to walk me through how to do this so Mike can focus on shipping, great.  Send me a PM with what you did to satisfy his request.

I sent you a PM asking for a non-public payment address.  I also want to know how much (in BTC) you want for the $35 shipping: some specific exchange rate, or just the rate at the instant that I send the payment?

Just do $100/BTC to keep it easy (this is more favorable than Gox).  Will send address shortly.

The Casascius 1oz 10BTC Silver Round (w/ Gold B)
I would like to extend this auction so its ending time is 22:20 instead of 22:00.  The other auction shall remain at 22:00 (UTC).  This way, I don't have two different threads ending at exactly the same time, which might be a logistical problem for those trying to bid on them both.  Any objections?  I realize that the earlier auction might end up getting extended due to bidding activity, but at least there won't be a mad rush targeting the single moment of 21:59:59.

The Casascius 1oz 10BTC Silver Round (w/ Gold B)

April 13, 2013: Auction for 10 rolls of fifty 1 BTC Casascius Coins.

See my blog, http://casascius.wordpress.com

Minimum bid: face value (50 * 1BTC = 50 BTC per roll).  Please bid in 0.1 BTC increments.
Shipping cost is a flat $35 for US Registered Mail, $50 for international Registered Mail,
regardless of the number of rolls won.

Unless otherwise specified, you are bidding for ONE of the eight rolls.  You can bid in any of
the following ways:

1. "I bid 51 BTC for any available roll".  If your bid wins, you'll win one roll.  You will not get
to choose which roll you get.

2. "I bid 51 BTC for roll 13B-A."  You will either win roll 13B-A for 51 BTC, or you won't.

If you post more than once with a bid that exceeds your prior bid, I will probably deem your
new bid as a replacement of your old bid.  Please be clear, preferably repeat all of your active
bids with each subsequent bidding post.

Unlike my last auction, the price you are bidding is your MAXIMUM bid.  The price the highest
bidder will actually pay is the second highest bid plus the minimum bid increment (0.1 BTC), plus
shipping.  All other bidders will pay their actual bid plus shipping.

The end time of this auction is April 14, 22:00 UTC forum time (approx. 24 hours from
now),  but any valid bid will extend the auction to 2 minutes past the timestamp of the post
containing the bid.

Roll 13B-A: Fifty 1 BTC Casascius Coins made April 13, 2013, with address prefix 13B
Roll 13B-B: Fifty 1 BTC Casascius Coins made April 13, 2013, with address prefix 13B
Roll 13B-C: Fifty 1 BTC Casascius Coins made April 13, 2013, with address prefix 13B
Roll 13B-D: Fifty 1 BTC Casascius Coins made April 13, 2013, with address prefix 13B
Roll 13B-E: Fifty 1 BTC Casascius Coins made April 13, 2013, with address prefix 13B*
Roll 13C-A: Fifty 1 BTC Casascius Coins made April 13, 2013, with address prefix 13C
Roll 13C-B: Fifty 1 BTC Casascius Coins made April 13, 2013, with address prefix 13C
Roll 13C-C: Fifty 1 BTC Casascius Coins made April 13, 2013, with address prefix 13C
Roll 13C-D: Fifty 1 BTC Casascius Coins made April 13, 2013, with address prefix 13C
Roll 13C-E: Fifty 1 BTC Casascius Coins made April 13, 2013, with address prefix 13C*

Note that A,B,C,D,E are not sequential: all of them are essentially random selections from the
200-300 coins that were made from each lot (max 300, actual production varies based on
mistakes, discards, etc.)  Of all these coins, they are essentially identical, other than that the
13B's were made just before the 13C's were made.

Of rolls marked with *, I may use some coins from other lots in the event that the lot runs out
before I can get the full 50 coins from it.

I reserve the right to cancel the auction if necessary for reasonable cause, as an escape
hatch just in case I've missed something critical.

Secure payment addresses (if you win more than 1 roll, OK to combine into single address)
(Please wait until winners are ranked before paying an address.  Please contact me if you
would like a different, non-published address, PGP signed of course).
