US dimes, quarters and half dollars from 1964 and earlier are 90% silver - $1 face value in circulated condition contains approximately 0.715 troy ounces of silver.  1965 and later are base metals and face value only.

Edit to add, US Nickels from 1942-1945 are 35% silver - these are referred to as "War Nickels" and can be identified by having a mint mark over the Montecello (building) on the reverse of the coin.

I dont think they are special, maybe useful in a collection because of the date.
I wasnt sure these were still in curculation again because of the dates?

Sounds good, yes they are still in circulation.  I sorted pocket change in the past month and a decent amount of them were old (50-60's) non silver coinage.

The US coins I see look like normal pocket change, is there anything special about them - silver/die error/etc?
