For me, this is a real first.
It's the first time ever I'm offering a creation of my own to the public. I've enjoyed doing artworks since I was a kid, but never fully devoted myself to art, because I always thought it to be meaningless or not really "useful" compared to other achievements. So I followed the path of formal education. In the last months I had some spare time and I came to realize that I suppressed my creative impulses and actually sublimated them by collecting small art pieces (mostly coins and stamps). I felt like it was long overdue to become creative myself again... This turned out to be a truly liberating and enjoyable experience!
From my point of view, art doesn't need to be decorative or pleasing to the eye. To me it's most important that it transports special moods, ideas or insights. That it calls into question the status quo and the seemingly self-evident. That it influences the perception and induces new thoughts and self-reflection by the observer. Ambiguity, absurdity and irony are methods in that sense.
So I decided to offer my first small painting to the public here. I'm curious if anybody is interested. I'm not selling it hoping for a huge profit - for me it's about sharing my expression. So I will gladly ship it out for the starting bid.
