thanks for your bids, I don't have to quote them because we're in the auction subforum now.

just a note: the one jalaman is selling on ebay is quite a bit cheaper currently: http://www.ebay.de/itm/Original-Casascius-Physical-Bitcoin-Serie-1-Minted-in-Oct-2011-with-misprint-/281090237807

I produced a "proof of existence" (using method described here) for the coin:

(click for pdf)

Here is the TIF image file you can use to prove existence of the coin as of today in the future should you need it.

The process I used to produce this has not been looked at thoroughly by others yet (see above thread and please help do it if you feel like it), but I'm pretty confident that it works.

This is probably the first coin that has such a proof available Wink

also, I bid 2.

I'm going to quote every valid bid.

In that case, there is no problem.

ok, good. I'll consider using the non-edit auction forum next time. Thanks for letting me know.

I would say.  Smiley

I'm not sure why. What's the harm if someone increases his bid or removes it or whatever?

Why isn't this in the auction sub forum where posts cannot be edited?

I didn't even know such a thing existed. Does it make sense to ask a mod to move it?

Hey guys, I talked my business partner (jalaman) into parting from one of his precious Series 1 coins, especiall for you guys! He's also selling one on eBay.

I'm doing the auction in my name. I will be responsible for everything, handle the payment, do the shipping and all. I receive 50% of whatever is above BTC 2.5.

As you might have noticed, these coins go for quite a price on eBay, for example $2,125.

Description of Item

You're bidding on exactly the coin shown in the photos. It's a Series 1 Casascius physical Bitcoin loaded by Casascius on October 18th 2011. This means this coins is one of the first 2000 (by date of loading).

Auction timing

Auction will end Sunday April 14th 18:00 GMT or 1 hour after the last valid bid was placed, whichever is later.

Placing Bids

You can place your bids by posting in this thread the amount you are bidding in BTC. Please use increments of at least BTC 0.05 The highest valid bid at the time of auction ending wins the auction. Failure to pay invalidates the bid.

Payment

No escrow. I will post a payment address after the auction ends. You have 48 hours to pay. If you fail to pay your bid is cancelled and the poster of the next-highest bid get's a chance to pay (I will post this).

Shipping

please note: I'm shipping from germany. To the US it can take quite long at times. I've seen anything from 3 to 20 days (1 letter even got lost). Most likely ETA seems to be something around 6 business days.

More Details / Rules:

  • I can change the auction rules (not the payment/shipping stuff of course) if I deem that necessary to ensure an orlderly auction
  • I will pay for tracked shipping (you will receive the tracking number)
  • If postal service loses the letter we will wait until I receive my insurance money (this can take up to 5 months!!). So please don't buy if you can't afford to have the money in limbo for that long.
  • If tracking service of Postal service says: "received" or "could not be delivered, needs to be picked up" or similar, it's on you: the coin is considered to be delivered at that point
  • In case of trouble/dispute I am allowed to publicize the tracking number (this does not reveal the receiving address)
  • On request, I will publicize the tracking number here in the thread
  • Upon receiving the coin(s), it would be nice if you posted that fact here.
