One coin to rule them all
Speaking of price, I think it’s worth mention that the grade also come into play, at least for most buyers.
In this context this specific coin has a low grade.

The sales seem to come in waves. You might not see any more for a while. I would bid more for a 2011 Series 2 than a 2012 Series 2 one BTC as Ahonen notes the 2011 Series 2 is more rare.

https://bit.ly/387FXHi lightning theory
I was watching this yesterday but the 1BTC coins are really popular (least scarce). I was going to bid 1.15 but couldn't work out whether to, they don't seem very easy to sell for a competitive price and there are a lot up for sale like you guys have said.

Supply and demand works in collectibles just like the BTC/USD market price.  When a fresh supply of BTC shows up suddenly, what happens to the BTC price in the short term?  My "gut" is the same thing has happened to Cas coins recently.  Between forum sales + the private ones sold by coblee + others, I think we've seen a abnormally high amount of coins show up.  BTC/USD going up has an effect as well, but I imagine the sheer volume of cas coins moved is the biggest factor.  Will be interesting to look back in a year and see what has happened.

Looks like it. You auctioned a 2013 Casascius 1 BTC MS65 Series 2 for 1.2 so this was a bargain. A Casascius Series 2 2012 Brass 1.0BTC MS65 went for 1.4 here. Also a Casascius 2011 1BTC Series 2 ICG MS68 sold for 1.28 from @coblee last month. Congrats @dazedfool!

is there a GPG chain of custody available?

I don’t mean to speak for OP, but I asked the same question via PM and the answer is no, there is no PGP custody. However, OP does have email in regards to funding.

thanks. great minds think alike!
