If anyone has a 25btc for sale in the US, I might be interested, definitely give preference for graded coins.

Offer for a Series 2 graded MS-67?

Uhh, no.

MDT (Mountain) is currently -6

Ah, shit I got the hours from UTC confused between MDT and MST. Sorry for that all! Thanks for the correction. I'll double check my comments next time - i think this one was late at night.

As it may be of interest here's a 25 BTC Series-1 that I won a couple of months ago, got it for 26.5 BTC @ approx $1,200/BTC = $31,800 or when we actually exchanged, on the 21st April, it was approx $1,246/BTC = $33,000 including delivery in person to London from Estonia.

Coin is real nice, firstbit's addie has a small smudge on it from when originally produced.

So, it ends tonight.  Midnight for his time zone  (MDT)

That is 6AM UTC  (Forum time)

Just watch the forum clock on the top right.  Less than 12.5 hours to go.

Today MDT is -7 hours from UTC. On Nov. 6th of this year MDT will be -6 from UTC.

Uhh, no.

DST = Daylight Savings Time.  It started on Mar 12th.  So, we are in xDT time zones.

PDT (Pacific) is currently -7
MDT (Mountain) is currently -6
CDT (Central) is currently -5
EDT (Eastern) is currently -4

On November 5th, we go to Standard Time zones  ( xST)

PST -8
MST -7
CST -6
EST -5

Current UTC time is (with Pacific and Mountain examples):
https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/converter.html?iso=20170507T170000&p1=1440&p2=234&p3=220

Theory and reasons for DST:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daylight_saving_time

And to clear up a confusion your computer might display.... When you go to clock to enter your time zone, it will show you Standard Time (PST for example for Pacific), but will either have a checkbox for observing daylight savings or simply do it for you based on the calendar date but will tell you that it is currently observing this change.  Yes, Windows has a checkbox asking if you're in a DST zone.  There are very few places that have an exception to the DST rule (like Arizona).

Term:  Spring forward / Fall back
In November, it is fall.  So, the clocks will fall back (extra hour of sleep).  So, for MDT -6, it will change to MST -7
PDT -7 will go to PST -8

(edit:  confirmation.  Bitcointalk is on UTC.  Time of my post was 5:27PM; however, I am in PDT -7, so it is 10:27AM right now)

This hurts my head

wouldn't it be better to just use Countdown Timer

btw, what's MNT? I see MT, MST & MDT, but not MNT, is it minus 7 hours from UTC, ie the same as PT 6.55 AM presently?

It's unofficially the same as MT, MST, and MDT. Someone is trying to abbreviate "Mountain Time" in the US. Officially it's referred to as "MT=Mountain Tim", "MST=Mountain Standard Time", or "MDT=Mountain Daylight Time".

Standard time vs. Daylight time refers to the months when the clocks shift an hour in the US. In the Spring (Mar 12 this year) most of the US moves the time forward 1 hour. This time remains until Nov 5 (this year) when most of the people in the US move the clocks back an hour. It's an antiquated rule that was originally set to allow farmers more time to work in their fields near harvest time.

Today MDT is -7 hours from UTC. On Nov. 6th of this year MDT will be -6 from UTC.

The current problem is that Otoh and LesbianCow know about this auction which means I have little chance of getting it, let alone a great deal.  Sad

I agree on this ^^^  I expect a flurry of last second/millisecond bids Wink

Last time I dealt with this by stating that any bid automatically extends the auction to x minutes after the last bid

it looks like I'm able to edit my message in this thread as well.  an auction thread might not work right if editing is allowed (isn't there a subforum or an option to disable editing/deleting for auction threads? maybe a mod can set it on the thread? etc.)
I like the extension clause, if I do another one I will have to add that in.

Yes. The auctions subforum doesn't allow edits.

Unfortunately you can't see the wood for the trees there.  Too much noise from account and domain sales. Here allows a coin auction to be seen

Real answer is a collectibles auction subgroup

For now quoting any posts gives a chance to snapshot.  But even those could also be edited

oh! i thought it was too big
MS 65 is good

NOT saying those are mine.
Just pointing out a picture which shows two of them.  So, can be graded.

Major thing to keep in mind is that grading done years ago was WAY more stringent.  Meaning, coins rarely graded for 65/66 back then.  Everything now is graded higher.  So, the dates of grading on all Casascius coins should be considered when you purchase coins.

From the picture I see in this auction, I believe it will grade well.  Currently I am still a contender in a possible bid.  But, I only snipe at the end.  The current problem is that Otoh and LesbianCow know about this auction which means I have little chance of getting it, let alone a great deal.  Sad

Beautiful coin...

Are the scratches on the obverse on the coin or the plastic?  Any chance of a photo with the coin outside of the flip?

Hopefully these pics turn out better. Hard to get the hologram in focus. Also I forgot to mention that this coin has the misprint "Casacius"

Hi, the sentiment that I don't normally offer escrow services is correct, but I've known Shawn 15+ years and will be happy to do this.

Portion of a valid Bitcoin address for me that I've reserved for this transaction: 18HUZvyDQskjC......Dmh3WyHzMu9mH
Or I'm happy to be 1 party of a 2-of-3 multisig wallet using CoPay.

Payment: BTC paid through escrow by Casascius
(for a buyer paid transaction fee of .2BTC over the final bid)
Other Info: After close of the auction I will deliver the coin to Casascius and share contact information with the buyer We will come to specific terms regarding a complete and amicable transaction.
Does Casascius offer escrow services? If so I've never seen that, and if he could confirm that'd be awesome.
