the site states that the "address" is also under the hologram and makes it seem as though they should be loaded.

Quote
The  "private key" & "address" is on a paper embedded inside the coin and is protected by a tamper-evident hologram. The hologram leaves behind a honeycomb pattern if it is peeled. If the hologram is intact, the bitcoin is good.

edit - I read further and it states that these were DIY and assembled but yes, not preloaded by manufacturer - if they assembled they included a separate list with address(es)

Quote
Way 1 : Order the coins , print and put the Key&address by you self then transfer your bitcoins into the address in the coins.

you can easy and safe print ramdon key&address by using  the generator web. Here

Way 2: Order the coins with ramdon key&address already.  transfer your bitcoins into these address.

we will send you the coins with a address list, and Extra tamper-evident hologram, so you could verify the coins.

looks like parent company was "Bitfly Global Management Limited"

Lebnor, a member here on the forum, sent me link that is an archived website for Geek Coin. This is a great source of original info on the coin. The treasure box, which Lebnor owns, is also pretty cool.

I like your idea of encouraging dialog during an auction, like you I figure why not.  As for if it's loaded or not..no, they are not loaded, or at least they should be treated as not loaded. This has been a topic of discussion/debate over the past few years.  I know that there have been several peeled and checked and nothing to be found.  I believe there is a private key underneath but no one has ever reported there being any coins on them.  My guess is they were originally made and sold w/public keys but they were lost in the shuffle at some point.

Interesting tidbit, there were little treasure chests that sold with some of these coins.  I have seen one or two pop up on here for sale at one point, has been some time though.

Good info!  Treasure chest sounds awesome.  Shocked You don't have a picture of one do you?

Here's a second coin from the Encyclopedia of Physical Bitcoins and Crypto-Currencies that is somewhat obscure and has been hard to find. For those of you trying pick up one of everything you can find, this coin may be a fun addition to your collection.

By the way, usually in forum auctions, discussion is discouraged for the sake of the sale.
However, I am encouraging discussion. These threads always end up adding to the history of these coins. If you know something, please share.

This auction is for a 2014 Geek Bitcoin that is graded by IGC, MS60.
It is on page 168 of the Encyclopedia. They are gold plated brass and have a denomination of .0005. I have no idea if they are loaded or if they were issued with public addresses. There is definitely something under the hologram so I suppose they actually could be loaded, but I have no idea; I definitely do not want to peel it to find out.

I'm not sure how rare these are. I wanted to post some links to discussions in the forum about this coin, but I could not really find any that have descriptive information about the coin itself.

You can see much larger views of the coin if you click on the thumbnails and then enlarge them by clicking a second time
