Possible accounts, and there are not too many. I bet if you search long enough you can track it down to <20 accounts. you would only need to check who changes his style of writing suddenly!

Interesting. So there are only 20 or so inactive accounts from then? I'd assume there would be more.

Why would the account necessarily be inactive?

I still don't understand, why is account selling/auction allowed?
It's so unfair, as there is a chance for manipulation if a person have multi accounts.

Doesn't make any sense to me either. The only reason to buy such an account would be to acquire a "forum reputation",
to sell something, most likely something shady...

And the price is a bit high too!

It's not that it's allowed, it's that it can't be prevented.  I don't like it either but it would be very difficult to prevent.  One of the things about bitcoin is that its users are pretty sophisticated.

OP - it looks like your auction has ended. Are you going to accept my bid?

You never bid. The OP said starting bid was 1BTC, another user came on and said lets start the bidding lower which is when you bid
Do you think we can get an answer from the OP instead of someone from the PD signature campaign trying to pad his post count?

Just in case you missed the part of this being a public forum with members being able to post responses to anything they want let me remind you.

Also since you're bidding on said account and you mentioned "padding your post count" what do you think you will be doing if/when you receive this hero account? Unless you're just trying to buy it to scam a bunch of people?

Maybe he just had a bad day, either that or a temper. But its quite clear the OP did not list the auction at .15BTC, that was simple what you offered. Im willing to wager 1BTC that the OP will not accept .15BTC as the reserve was over 1BTC according to the original post.

There you go padding that post count again Wink

I agree that Hero accounts should be worth between 1-4 btc..If you do the primedice promo and post 400 times in a month, you will earn .48btc each month. I believe it takes a year to get to hero status, may be wrong. I would pay 3-5btc for a hero account if I planned on posting 400 times in a month, which is about 14 posts a day on average. I would never let a hero account go for less than a few coins.

1-4? That's ridiculous. Yeah, post 400x a month (signature campaigns do NOT allow multi accounters) and get .48. Do you realize how much time it would take to post 400 posts every month? A hero account isn't worth more than 1 btc. People sell Sr accounts for .3-.45, pay is almost same as hero except its a lot cheaper to buy the account. 4 btc is laughable, paying $2400 for a forum account  Roll Eyes

Im assuming the reason you cant edit posts in the auction thread is to stop members from changing their bids.. Is my thinking correct?

Wow, what purpose does selling a hero account serve other than to use it to for not so good purposes. I mean good for you to get a bitcoin for a screen name but at what price to the users of this forum who may or may not get scammed by the buyer?

Yeah, selling accounts seems like a net bad thing for the community. Don't really see a good way to prevent it, though.

Absolutely. All I can see coming from this is a scam report in the future. I will happily flag this as a sold account. If it is for the purpose of ear in money through signature campaign so be it. But people should know that this is not the hero member they think it is.

Accounts can always be recovered. There's not foolproof way to buy any account as the owner can always get it back.

Well the main purpose of buying them is to use for signature campaigns as you can make quite a lot with one. You can get scammed by a newb user or a hero so just use escrow and if they refuse go elsewhere.

Yeah, especially with a starting price with a reserve too. Hero accounts very rarely go for 1btc. You'd probably be lucky to get 0.8. Best just selling it rather than auctioning it as well.
