One coin to rule them all
Ok auction has finished with no bids, even after dropping the starting bid to 0.4btc. I know the change was late so I understand the auction prob lost a lot of attention. I will repost a new auction with a lower starting bid.

Thanks all for following.

Cheers

I would also suggest 0.01 or 0.005 increments instead of 0.05.

Cheers!

I hate to admit it, but now has the mentality in casascius changed, its now 1 BTC = X USD.

Couldn't agree more, especially the prices for non loaded items has plummeted so much because of people considering the USD value for the item and not the btc value..

Thanks guys for the feed back. I thought I would start the auction at 0.8btc because of the following research I’ve done through this forum
Recent sales of this bar Is kind of what I based my starting bid on.

16 June 2019
redeemed 2fa casascius gold plated bearer bar.
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/auction-ended-redeemed-2fa-casascius-gold-plated-bearer-bar-5152549
Peeled and in average condition sold for .2BTC
BTC= $8900USD at this time

11 June 2018
Mint zerobtc bar
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4409428.60
Sold 1.1BTC
BTC= $6700 USD at this time

Ok so maybe I’m starting a little high. I’m happy to drop starting bid for rest of the action to .4BTC however I’m not sure if this is considered fair dropping it with less then 24hrs to go.

What are people’s thoughts on this? Or should I just restart auction??

I think that you have no bids in your auction because the starting price is 0.8BTC
I remember selling one, scratched and opened, for 0.25BTC but this was when BTC was waaaaay below $10k.

Good luck with your auction, maybe you should considering restarting it with a lower starting bid.

When I joined bitcoin then was the mentality 1 BTC = 1 BTC.

For a long time did the casascius market follow this mentality, so the price was fixed in BTC with no respect to dollar.
The casascius market was beautiful back then; close to being a true bitcoin eco-system, items was fixed in terms of BTC, unrelated to USD.

I hate to admit it, but now has the mentality in casascius changed, its now 1 BTC = X USD.
Thus you cannot expect same premium for cas items compared to when BTC was 20 times lower than it is now - in terms of BTC.
Nevertheless in terms of dollar, then does all cas items have an amazing premium.

An example, when 1 BTC = 600 USD, then did these bars (in same condition) go for 1-1.5 BTC, 600-900 USD.
This correspond to 0.05-0.08 in todays money.

I am sure this bar will INSTA sell at 0.1 - thus price in terms of dollars have increased.

A true bitcoiner should strive against having a pure BTC economy, we should be in front as role models (imo).

I believe that in my life time; all property will one day be priced in crypto currency and not USD.
The fiat system is very young and incredible bad, it needs to be replaced asap, the masses has just not realized it yet.
Its just a matter of time, the fiat system is so bad by design that it break down eventually.

Thanks TookDk for the link. What a great PDF.
Here is the intro from the PDF on this bar

These bars were the first ‘empty’ items released by Casascius. They function like any physical Casascius coin in that Bitcoin can be sent to it using the first-bits, but redeemed only by re- moving the hologram.

Thanks Yogg.
Yes Yogg is 100% correct. This bar was signed sealed and delivered by mike hasn’t been touched since then. It’s perfect for cold storage of btc or just for keep sake. I purchased this for that intention along with all my other collectables, hold and one day maybe sell and buy a house or something but due to health issues and the debit that’s been created from it I have no choice but to part with my babies sooner then later. Some may have seen my error coin going to a new home last week (still in transit to a new home). All I have is photos of her now Embarrassed.

Happy bidding guys and keep an eye out as I unload more and more of my collectables.
