Blazed,

What is your best asking price on (L) 1BTC Bitbill?

Thanks.

Top offer I have received so far was 1.75 + 2 x silver panda coins.

That is a good deal!

Shorty after I got an offer of 1.95BTC. I am not really motivated to sell so this will likely sit in the vault unless someone gets crazy with the offers. I am not sure I could ever replace it...I got lucky to snag them just was right place at the right time sorta thing.

Yes thankyou and that makes sense why the cut. These are the first physical bitcoin ever produced correct? Before Casascius?

Loaded yes they are.  There might have been physical represenations of the bitcoin symbol. These were offered i would say 5 or so months before mike offered the casascius coins out.

This is what the maker says...

""Tampering is the problem of people extracting the private key without it being visible. We put the private key actually inside of the layers of plastic, so it's not just a simple matter of carefully peeling off a sticker or anything. The hologram is directly on top of the private key, also within the plastic. Even if it is somehow covertly extracted (once you see one of these, you'll see just how impossible that seems), the hologram destructs when removed.""

Thats the original thread.  You can read halfway down (user llama) where they state the private key is inside the card.  Therefore i would think any redeemed card will be cut.

Interesting, I wasn't aware the key was embedded between the layers and it looks like an exacto knife could be used to redeem without cutting the card nearly in half.  Thanks for the info wheelz!

Undecided Really? I thought all you had to do was scratch the surface. If that is the case then all used ones are cut...correct?

I don't have any first hand experience redeeming these cards but I would think you can redeem it without cutting the card in half.  Everyone has their own way of redeeming and I recall scenarios where people were selling peeled/redeemed items and they didn't put the peeled hologram back on (extra value for resale).

An argument could probably be made about privacy for the user not putting the redeemed holo/key back on the item, but it definitely has more value if redeemed and is as intact as possible.

Blazed...why did the guy cut into the bill? What was the idea behind that?

The person who redeemed them did not think they were worth more than face value. I am glad I caught him soon enough to grab the other one so it never gets peeled. He was shocked when I offered him over face value...

Blazed...but why did he cut the one I bought with scissors?

The bill was cut to be redeemed.  Wink
