This article just came out today: http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2016-02-17/case-outlawing-cash
in some countries bank accounts are already taxed and you pay a fee just to keep it open, it won't be long until banks will start charging you to keep your money, they will be able to afford that because you won't be able to hold cash therefore you will need a bank

They aren't going to regulate bitcoins but instead they can try banning it as well. If bitcoins exist, how would they earn their taxes?
I just can't imagine how they can ban something they don't control?
For example China ban bitcoin what will they do exactly?
They will prohibit btc for trading , many platforms will just change their servers.
They won't go from home to home to destroy btc?! They cannot destroy opium trade don't forget this.

What have happened with kickass torrent? Pirate bay?

Why they don't ban dark network and..?

Only way to kill it is to kill internet but i think till then BTC will be on different platforms..
More you prohibit it price will be higher learn from history.

What's the source of this article? I can never believe that cash can be banned anywhere whether or not it is used for illegal activities. Banks earn from the cash we save in our accounts and they would never charge us for keeping our money as that's what they earn from.

This is not something dramatic. Cool
Paper money is problematic for them, can be used for laundering, can be stolen.
Also they must print this money..It is lot easier to control money from accounts in banks..
This is not secret they gonna force us to implement a chips in our hands..
And many many other things in order to take our rights and give us false security from what?!  Undecided

Bitcoin ? This is something that they can't control at the moment and for some time they gonna let it live for sure.
More likely they gonna try to control it after all..But how that is question?  Huh

And I guess we'll still end up with how things were - barter of goods. those who have farms with armies of their own get to survive.

history repeats itself. We will be back one day with the same habits of our ancestors, in a modern way

IF the governments and banks tend to go to that extremes then certainly there will be chaos.

but how do you think they could enforce such a ban?

No atms. No bank will pay it out. I guess there'd be a cut off date for deposits too maybe. I think if it was restricted to one country the population would use next door's cash instead or switch to dollars.

After years of rising debts and failed policies, our governments decided it was time to print with the illusion that wealth can be created out of thin air. Obviously they are now realizing that wealth cannot be printed so why not seizing it from its citizens? One of the worst nightmares of banks are the long cues that you will see creating in front of ATM machines in time of panic, and understandably people want to hold cash because they can control it. Our governments would like to change that and they are considering the idea of banning cash (gradually they already started by decreasing the withdrawal limits on ATMs). In times of negative interest rates banks will start charging you for keeping your money, and if you are not allowed to have cash you have nowhere to go and decide if you want to be punished for saving money or if you want to spend it all. To implement this they will just use a tool that is it's working pretty well, fear-mongering. They are successfully depriving us with our privacy with the pretext that national security is on the table, they will do the same thing with cash, they will say that terrorists use cash therefore we need to ban it (they can get away with anything with the excuse of terrorism).
It sounds like a plan but bitcoins may get on the way for them. Do you think that sooner or later governments will try to ban bitcoins?Of course they can't prevent people from exchanging bitcoins with one another but they can go after businesses that accept bitcoins
I would like to know your thoughts..

During crisis governments try to make the economy stable. When they try to do this try impose such regulations on withdrawal limit, transfer limit and all. Even this can be get rid of few banks. Terrorists have various options, they just won't depend on bank for their money transfer. When the governments feel the cap market of banks are getting decreased they may plan in the banning of bitcoins
