Hey all,

First time miner with an Avalon 1166. It's only been up about 36 hours and it just did something odd. The fans went way higher than usual and the status light changed from green to amber. After a few minutes of this, the power light blinked green, and then it sounded like the fans completely shut off. After 30 seconds or so it came back with all lights green and the fans sounded normal again.

Was this some sort of reboot or similar?

Thanks in advance.
Probably lost connection to the pool temporarily.
Few people have perfect internet connections.
Ignore it unless it keeps happening and your internet is perfect (which it is unlikely to be).

Yes, I did read the manual, but the blinking green was throwing me off. Except for this small instance, the power green stays solid and I couldn't find anything on why it would be blinking.

As to the sound of the fans, I can't be sure it went 100% quiet only because the miner is in a remote building and I was monitoring it over a security camera. So perhaps the fan was just so low the camera microphone couldn't pick it up.

Will do on the software. Thanks for that.

Did you read the manual of this miner?

The green light is "normal mining condition" and the yellow one is "during system preparation". So maybe the blinking green light means it's mining?

Use this image as your reference or directly download the manual from Canaan.

About the fan how did you know it is completely shut off? Is it stop spinning?

I would like to suggest if you want to get more insight into your problem better install FMS software from Canaan here https://canaan.io/service/447
