Not sure if anyone will see this but I finally got my 721 up and running (thanks for all of the pictures and suggestions!), and I was wondering how to go into the settings and turn the fan speed down a little bit?

I only have 1 unit, it is in a well-ventilated area and after running for 24hrs its barely warm, just want to make it a little quieter.

Any help would be appreciated.

bring this up  then click advanced

you get here click cgminer configuration

you get here  set to -2 for voltage off set  and set to 25% for minimum fan speed not 10%
hash will drop a bit and the fan will never go under 25% but it will never go really high the gear is loud simple as that

Thanks, but it seems that he recognized the Avalon and was able to communicate at any time.

I have a Raspberry 3 running and im pretty sure that i'm using the right software (i checked it several times).
Reading this topic, I can say that i burned the image to an used sd card several times.

Regards Jan

I don't know if this will help, but I still needed to restart the cgminer process before the controller recognized the miners.

Hello,

I also have problems with setting up my controller. I didn't purchase the controller from the website. I have my own Raspberry running their firmware on it.
(I can't access to the GUI) therefore i can only post the comand line:

Okay  what rasp pi do you have?

I read this:

https://canaan.io/2016/11/23/update-new-controller-and-mm-firmware-for-avalonmiiner-721/

NOTE: The previous firmware works for AvalonMiner 721. The above firmware released for the AvalonMiner Controller and Raspberry Pi 1, 2, and 3 is officially starting to support AvalonMiner 721 from this current version. If there is a phenomenon where a user can update the MM firmware stating “it is not recognized,” please note that the controller firmware is normal.

and it seems to have a slight mis-translation   So I hope some one can help you to be sure you have the correct firmware loaded to your rasp pi

I did have configuration set, but I did not have access to view the same web gui as Philip had.

So I just typed in:  /cgi-bin/luci/;stok=7cf7b0e7c4c587fa903333d06d533a8c/admin/status/cgminerstatus
and was able to get to the status page and it had a link to restart cgminer.

Once I restarted CGMINER the controller started communicating with the miners, but no mining still, just the fan running.

I am going to flash an image to the PI tonight and try that.

Weird.

edit:  LOL,  I was able to also reboot the miners and then they started mining...So whatever...I am still going to flash the image on the PI...shouldn't have to do this everytime.  Thanks for the help everyone!

no  buy a new  card do not flash the oem card.

trust me been there done that.

sometimes the oem card won't flash correctly.

just buy a decent 8gb card from amazon

class 10
https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-MicroSDHC-Standard-Packaging-SDSDQUAN-008G-G4A/dp/B00M55C0VU/ref=sr_1_1?

get 2   load them both and you will have instant back up

see below on your photos click the advanced version tab on left side

FYI...Bought 2 micro SD cards as suggested.  Flashed the image and the controller is working great!  Thanks for the help!

Was correct image flashed to the Pi?  In addition can you go to diagnostics page and ping or do a tracert ok?  Try another pool.

Did you set up the pool?

Also, check the advanced setting if the tabs are there.

If the advanced setting is not available with the tabs, reflash the sd card.

It happened to me then i reflashed the sd card and all worked.

I am new to the Avalon product line and I am having problems getting the Controller to communicate to the miners and start mining.  The attached pictures show my setup with 2 Avalon 721 miners and 1 AvalonMiner Controller.  I can communicate with the Controller and have configured it to work on my network, but it doesn't show any miners attached.  I have tried the following to troubleshoot:

Switched to all 4 of the usb ports of the controller
 Justed hooked 1 miner up
 Switched miners
Bought a new  power supply for the controller
new usb-to-micro cable for controller to AUC3
 switched auc3's

The controller is still unable to communicate with the miners.  Do I have to flash the sd card in the controller or should it come ready to go out of the box?  I have been communicating with Canaan but they have gone silent.  I am sure I am missing something stupid, so any suggestions would help.

Thanks!

my guess is your four pin cables are no good.  they have sometimes sent out bad 4 pin cables.

you get the good blue light  so

psu to rasp pi = good
usb to little blue thing = good.

next is 4 pin cable to avalon 721  my guess is it is bad.

oh all your photo will now show
