The air is exhausting out the black fan.  The software reported internal temps seem fine.  So I'm guessing is just variance of the actual chips inside or difference in manufactured lots.  I'm not sure of the internal design of these but I'm wondering if there is a heat sink or something inside that is in contact or transferring heat directly to the housing.

Unless you notice a large dent in the exterior casing your heatsink should be about 1 cm away from the casing. Your temps are in range, a little on the high side. I know that my miners are hot to the touch when they ran in the fall during the warmer  weather. Once it got cold all my temps and fan speeds dropped and they became warm, the underside is still warmer.
Just keep an eye on the logs and the miners you should be fine.

Are they all orientated the same way? Look inside at the heatsink fins, ensure they are horizontal.

Also check to make sure the hot air comes OUT of the black fan shroud. At least one person here reported their fan was installed backwards. If wrong way, easy fix to turn the fan around.

If the temps are reporting normal you have nothing to worry about. Remember these miners are basically 1200 watt space heaters that happen to crunch numbers while they turn electricity into heat.

Hi I recently purchased two avalon miner 741s.   Is it normal for the bottom side of the miner to get very hot?  I have the miners where air circulates around all four sides.    One of the miners seems to run significantly hotter than the other (almost to hot to touch).    Is this normal or could the heat issue be a defective unit?    Could it just be due to hardware variance?     The temperatures from the status screen are nearly identical 37C inflow and 90C/91C outflow.

The miners seem to operate fine I'm getting around 8TH/Sec with default settings.

I think it is not normal. First try to increase ventilation on that specific unit. If it stays hot, try to replace the unit with a new one.
