hi fanatic26, I thought the controller (raspberry pi) is powered by an external adapter or are you talking about a different controller?

I am talking about the daughter board inside the miner where you plug the daisy chain cables into. The hash board connect to an internal controller which is then in turn controlled by the RPi

The controller is powered internally. When you turn the first board on it will power up, when you turn the second board on it will reboot itself.

Yep, that sequence will work fine.  I have not used add2psu, but I know that some PSU do not share nicely.  I would run them separate, but that is only me.

@Steamtyme

I have it pre-order, I would like to have one big server psu but I cannot find anyone selling here, I have not tried buying online, I might check how it works. Thanks

@cableiso

Thank you very much for the explanation.

Just to be clearer.

1.connect the 2 psu to Avalon
2. start the first psu
3. start the second psu
4. start controller

Is that correct?

Have you tried using Add2psu to the psu? will that work? I'm thinking if i use add2psu then I would just need one outlet to use instead of 2 outlets.

2 psu is fine.  Connect one psu to only one of the hash boards, connect the other psu to the other hash board..  and the controller, if you have an adapter for it.

Power up the one with the controller last.  I tried powering the all at the same time, but sometimes cgminer does not catch one board and needs to restart.  Powering up separately avoids this small nuisance.

If you haven't already bought your psu. Why not consider buying 1 psu to power the whole machine. You can get them from parallelminer, or I get mine from Amitylabs they have an ebay store. They are better quality psu's for mining

Hello,

I'm planning on getting an Avalon 741 and 2 psu 650w to power the device.

I will buy 2 x Thermaltake Toughpower Grand RGB 650W.

How will i connect these into Avalon 741?

I've seen the diagram and I need to put 1 psu on 1 side and 1 psu on the other side.

Do I need to daisy chain this similar to the GPU mining rigs by adding Add2PSU?

or can I connect the 2 psu together using Add2PSU so i only need 1 outlet?

Thank you for the help
