After my experiences with the 741 and MinerWarez (beware, scam highly unethical site) I retract my interest in purchasing the 821.

They only take wire transfers. How would that be organized. Also since they priced this machine 3x more than their last device and almost double the price of an s9. I am forced to have to consider other miners even though I really wanted a Canaan due to their reliability

The odds of anyone being able to put together a group buy are very unlikely. I would wager you won't have the chance until at least mid 2018. There stock is in such demand with distributors, plus they began to ask people in November for their projected needs, so all of those people and companies are in front of the line.

Then there are the logistics of 20-30 people getting together and paying for something so far in advance.

The landscape has changed drastically in the last 6 months, best bet is to try and purchase from any distributor you can even if the shipping will cost you a bit more.

I would take 2.

How would this work since Canaan only accepts wire transfers? Would we use an escrow account?

Edit: I see the other thread got locked due to the complications of the purchase requiring a wire transfer. I guess this won't happen.

Any idea how cheaper do you think the group buy would be compared to getting through the distributor?

Given that Canaan has a wide network of distributors (unlike bitmain and others) why do we need group buy? I'm waiting to buy from the distributors am I doing this wrong?

Depending on if the group buy is in your country, you could save a ton on import fees. Also depending on the pricing given, you could also save from the distribution up charges.

So unfortunately Canaan only accepts bank wires. This cause a host of logistical issues and most likely will not happen. Best bet is to order from your local distributor.

I was debating doing a group buy for Canada at least. I already had the forms filled out with corporate information and sent in a week back. So we'll see what happens. I'm looking to get 30 depending on price, with another 30 filled by word of mouth already. My calculated price for the A821 is ~$2306 USD.

I filled out the forms but they're honestly well above my individual budgeting.

I'm kinda pissed about this new 60Units-or get fucked attitude they seem to be going forward with.

Hopefully a veteran GroupBuy organizer might have some interest in one up as I'm more than confident filling a 60 unit bulk purchase would be pretty easily sold out however I understand the massive hassle such a large group buy would likely generate.

I'd be down for at least 3-5 assuming they're cost comparable to S9 prices etc ...
