@DaveF
But they kind of have done that.
You can compile cgminer if you have Avalon 9 or older Avalons,
and setup it with a PC that has a Ubuntu based distro installed in it.

I haven't tried it myself, so I leave a bit of doubt to my statement.
But I think one could use this as a guideline for Avalon+Ubuntu setup: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Avalon4#Avalon4_CGMiner_Under_Ubuntu_14.04

About Sly91's original problem, it would be nice if he come back to us to tell how's his situation after the tips provided here, and if we can give any more assistance to his problem.

Look in just any thread regarding the A7-A9 and you will find Kano's comments about that. From what I've seen with my clusters it is the number of stales seen that goes up.

As for the reason, partly due to the RasPi using a USB-channel for the LAN connection vs a dedicated network link to the CPU and as a guess, polling time required to service all the miners in a string. Safe bet that since he worked with Canaan to tweak the FW Kano could give some details on it.

OP, what model RPi are you using?

I had 3 miners running on a RPi3 but the original RPi & the RPi2 struggled with having more then 2 per chain.

Would have liked to have seen under-voltage / CPU temp warnings for the Pi controller in the web interface, but they never put them in for some reason.
I *think* that some of the issues that people have had through the years with the Avalon stuff was the fact that they spend $1000s on miners and everything else and then used a $1 power supply to run their RPi.
Even with what the OP is seeing. Is it the Pi not keeping up because it can't or is not keeping up because the CPU is throttling due to heat or low power?

I always wondered why they never released a PC based control software.

... 2 miners per AUC string is ideal. From what I've seen running mine, 3 or more per-string and the error rate starts going up.

Interesting. Is there more information about this somewhere?

you can daisy chain max 5 units per AUC
And even then it will impact performance of all miners on that string. Per Kano - who worked with Canaan a lot on the A8 FW - 2 miners per AUC string is ideal. From what I've seen running mine, 3 or more per-string and the error rate starts going up.

I think this is related to the IP issue and maybe the other miner uses the same IP that is why the 6th miner keeps restarting.

If you could post the whole Cgminer API log maybe we can see the error for IP conflict.
The solution for this is to set all your miner to static IP.

How did you connect 2 miners on 1 AUC3 adapter? it should have 1 single 5-pin port for miner and another single port to connect with raspberry pi.

It seems your Power Supply box not working properly while running all miners together, Maybe the power supply box failed to deliver enough power. Don't run all together further, Check Input/Output voltage and adjust power supply properly/Upgrade your power supply box if needed. Must check actual polarity before connecting new adapter.

You only posted a part of the cgminer api log, so it is hard to say anything about it.

You can see my Avalon troubleshooting guide for assistance.

Hello There!

I have recently started mining on avalon 841, I have 8 miners connected to one Raspberry Pi via 2 miners on each ACU3 adapter.

All miners working great individually. But when I run them all together only 6 of them are running normally and 2 of them keep restarting after every few minutes.

Sometimes all of a sudden all of them are stopping mining and I'm getting following error on Api Log:

    CRC[0 1 0 0],MM Count=2,Smart Speed=1,Connecter=AUC,AUC VER=AUC-20151208,AUC I2C Speed=400000,AUC I2C XDelay=19200,AUC Sensor=12258,AUC Temperature=38.99,Connection Overloaded=false,Voltage Level Offset=0,Nonce Mask=24,USB Pipe=0,USB Delay=r0 0.000000 w0 0.000000,USB tmo=0 0|STATS=6,ID=POOL0,Elapsed=3445,Calls=0,Wait=0.000000,Max=0.000000,Min=99999999.000000,Pool Calls=0,Pool Attempts=0,Pool Wait=0.000000,Pool Max=0.000000,Pool Min=99999999.000000,Pool Av=0.000000,Work Had Roll Time=false,Work Can Roll=false,Work Had Expire=false,Work Roll Time=0,Work Diff=267248.00000000,Min Diff=16703.10000000,Max Diff=267248.00000000,Min Diff Count=226,Max Diff Count=3328,Times Sent=540,Bytes Sent=73043,Times Recv=797,Bytes Recv=229907,Net Bytes Sent=73043,Net Bytes Recv=229907|STATS=7,ID=POOL1,Elapsed=3445,Calls=0,Wait=0.000000,Max=0.000000,Min=99999999.000000,Pool Calls=0,Pool Attempts=0,Pool Wait=0.000000,Pool Max=0.000000,Pool Min=99999999.000000,Pool Av=0.000000,Work Had Roll Time=false,Work Can Roll=false,Work Had Expire=false,Work Roll Time=0,Work Diff=66048.62608200,Min Diff=66048.62608200,Max Diff=66048.62608200,Min Diff Count=56,Max Diff Count=56,Times Sent=4,Bytes Sent=386,Times Recv=10,Bytes Recv=4363,Net Bytes Sent=386,Net Bytes Recv=4363|'
