This is pretty well known "common" damage on the batch1 models. Both of mine did the same thing. One of mine the screws broke off and the card beat around inside and required repair to the PCB.

the real "batch 2" that are black supposedly have this fixed.

As mentioned in the other thread, I would create this thread to show the damage to the third Avalon I received.

Through the fans you can see that at least one board is loose:


Inside I found that:
Board two and three were ripped off their screws. The screws were still in the machine due to the plastic wrap around the plate of the case.
The USB cable to the hub was loose, probably pushed out by the 2nd board.
The big 24 pin power supply connector was loose.
The cable of the 3rd fan was loose.


This is one of the six screws that together have to hold one board to the case. As you can see a few threads contain aluminium of the board:


This picture shows that the screw is not long enough. Only about three threads go into a board.



The screws should be longer and thicker to be able to keep the board firm to the case, even in the event of a drop. Maybe a nut should be added too.

Luckily I could repair it all and it's mining :-)
