Normally people really need to dey very careful now because the way all this scammers dey take bring out strategy everyday now, I think e don too much for them. Sometimes weting una feel say na small thing fit be big thing for them, just imagine ordinary charging cables na person fit lose in coin to scammers, abeg make we dey extra careful now because you no know weting you go give person now wey go result as scam.

Sometimes I dey wonder if scammers dey pay some production companies to produce some of this device because na most scammers go get this information fast and who knows how long them don they use am cash out before people come notice am then decide to lick the information to the general public.

Most of the hackers na good thinkers most of them they go into scamming and hacking because they were not able to get employment so they all convert their time to thinking how to steal from people who are working to save up money that's why you see them bringing up different innovation all in the name of scamming people, if they could put in the ideals they have into creating a good thing I don't think they will have time to scam again.

With the advancement in technology now, i don't doubt this information because someone told me similar thing in the past but i was wondering how hackers can just use ordinary USB cord to bypass phone security and protection such as passwords, and other means of verification before you can access your device. Perhaps, before a phone security locks can be hacked that means the phone will undergo rooting which in most cases leads to loss of data in the phone but however, i don't doubt any strategy that scammers employs to hack into one's private data and steal sensitive information from it because i have actually been a victim to scam, i'm literally extra careful about anything that has to do with my devices. Just like you've rightly said, you'd be definitely downplaying and underestimating the capabilities of hackers if you feel there's no way that hackers can access your device using this method, because there's really no limit to what those people can do, if they can remotely access your device using a mere keyboard downloaded on your phone then trust me that this is literally nothing.

Concerning borrowing of charger cables, the only reason I believe I may not be able to fall victim to this method of scam is because I always calculate the duration of my battery whenever I'm going out, if I know I'm going far, I'll always go along with my backup charger (power bank) or I carry my charger along so I wouldn't have to ask anyone for charger cos I ordinarily see it as an inconvenience and I hate inconveniencing people.

It's really risky what technology is expending into imagining such can be done by just a USB cord that's meant to be used for phone charging purposes only.

I have read of some pendrives that are capable of stealing target information too, but we just don't have to be careful about where we charge our phones; this thing can go as far as such cords being sold in gadget shops where we can buy charger replacements and get something else in return without knowing where our problems are coming from.

I believe you still don't get the risk here or maybe you don't understand the extent of the risk here. You don't need to only require to charge to be able to fall for that. Someone can also want to collect some documents or files or something of their interest from your device and you can still fall for this trick and going by you trusting only people you know can obviously fall for it, yes you can be aware of this trick but what if the person you trust is ignorant of this and exposes you to this ? Hahaha...I don't want to downplay a security threat but I still do not believe this will give the hacker all passes to the password, fingerprint, facial recognition, 2FA etc, all at the same time. This is why it's good we should not limit the security features to passwords/pins only, the world we live in is now mad.

I read of this a few years ago but did not pay attention to it because I do not charge outside and even if I have a reason for it, it will be collected from a known person. I've also learned not to allow Google to save my password through its manager, it's a serious security bridge on its own. I memorise my password now and do not check "remember password" anymore.
