Is it cheaper to buy litecoin --> send to exchange and sell for bitcoin (take a 0.1-0.25%) loss?? Than to buy bitcoin directly, in my head it seems better.

Or even ethereum if your Alts trade in eth pairs?

i think that is a good option, since bitcoin fees nowdays is high
and nowdays the confirmation transaction on bitcoin is a bit lagh since there is 66k unconfirmed transaction that waiting to get confirm

and quite possibly faster too if you need to trade in a hurry. BTC can take forever and a day to make the required confirmations. And for noobs like me, experience can be an expensive teacher. Yes, im speaking of the fees  Grin

You can deposit money directly to the exchange and buy BTC at market price losing only 0.25%.
