Filipino actress Awra Briguela was arrested on Thursday morning after being involved in a brawl at a bar in Makati City.

The Southern Police District (SPD) said that Briguela, whose real name is McNeal Briguela, was arrested at about 5 a.m. on June 29 at the Bolt Hole Bar in Poblacion.

According to the SPD, Briguela was with a group of friends when they got into an argument with another group of people. The argument escalated into a brawl, and Briguela allegedly punched and kicked one of the people in the other group.

Police said that Briguela also became verbally abusive towards the officers who responded to the scene, and she even pushed one of them.

Briguela was charged with physical injuries, alarm and scandal, direct assault, and disobedience to a person in authority. She is currently detained at the Poblacion substation of the SPD.

The incident has since gone viral on social media, with some people coming to Briguela's defense, saying that she was only protecting her friend from a group of men who allegedly tried to sexually harass her.

Briguela is a popular actress and social media personality in the Philippines. She is best known for her roles in the TV series "Ang Probinsyano" and "Maalaala Mo Kaya."

This is not the first time that Briguela has been involved in a controversy. In 2019, she was suspended from the ABS-CBN talent management agency after she was caught on video using a homophobic slur.

It remains to be seen what the outcome of this latest incident will be. Briguela is scheduled to appear in court on Friday, June 30.
