ive never seen a good fan do this in 50*c, maybe they dont use good fans, or the card is failing? will test and monitor before sending back. i can always rma it with sapphire later.

put 87cfm about 4inches from above intake. put a cheap infrared thermo on fans, this one was ~10*c higher.

automagically the fan doesnt seem to spin wildly! ?

current stable solo temp temp is 66*c.

will monitor.

If you didn't send in the card yet, can't you try something like a Noctua fan on the heatsink?

Not only would it be cooler by 10-20c, it would be nearly silent and always run at 100%.

Tbh it can run just fine 24/7 at 75-85c. If you have a small desktop fan you could point it at the card until you get a replacement fan for the card.

I've run a 5850 for over a year at about 82c and it's fine. 55-70 is optimal.

Would only become worried if it constantly hit 90+. That's only 'ok' for the 6990s

i wont allow it to rise above 85*c. I have not yet turned off the "failsafe" so I dont know how far it will rise past 85*c with a fan that goes to 0rpm every 10 seconds.

During the day 3 of the 4 cards get to about 83*c stable, sometimes hitting the 85*c mark. One card (best airflow) hits <80*c.

It has ran fine for a few weeks, all of the sudden the fan seems to be failing hard. Hopefully NewEgg rma will be good. I've spent a lot of money at newegg over the years, but have yet needed to RMA anything. Good experience I suppose.

I just sent in an RMA to newegg. This is the "other SKU" sapphire 5830, the one that was 120$, but is not 130$. I notice the fan on it runs about 1k rpm less than the other 3 (109$ version), always has.

Just today I awoke to a constantly "overheating" (AOCLBF set to stop mining when it hits 85*c) GPU. Anyone else had this problem? It has adequate airflow.

This is a "test" run. Ran the machine with just this gpu, same results, then plugged them all back up, same results.
