this statement is false
BTC is sleeping only a total fool would start a large dump now.

what do you mean, "sleeping"?

Means the dragon will awake and rise to new all time highs

haha, well there's your answer then. there will be a dip now because too many speculators are expecting a rise in price and the market moves to minimize profits. it's called a long squeeze.

Russia actually did ban bitcoin. Just as they did the dollar, euro, yen and anything else other than their national currency. Which is good news since it granted bitcoin legitimacy.

for some reason they've kept little kiosk exchanges of USD/EURO/etc almost on every corner in major cities

Russia and China did not ban bitcoin

... And even if a government outlawed bitcoin, there is no way they can enforce it, especially with software like Tor out there.

Yeah except no one would use BTC... You can ask 30 people and you'll be lucky if even one of them know how to use Tor, or even heard of it

What's left?  Excuse my naivete, but I'm having trouble imagining any bigger or badder news than what we've already seen to have any real or lasting impact on this train near future.

Bitcoinica could collapse,
BTCST could sink,
GLBSE could disappear,
the Silk Road could be seized or shuttered,
regulators could ban bitcoin,
a technical bug could fork the blockchain,
or, worst of all, MtGox could implode.

If none of these risks end up killing Bitcoin, what serious risks remain?

*cough* BTC-e *cough*

The prospect of impending doom is greatly diminished.

If indeed there is something that can kill bitcoin , is an alternative to it.
Easier to use , more secure etc...
No bitcoin service going down or seizure will kill this coin.

I am a banana.
We've seen Bitcoin bans from Russia and China, the implosion of MTGox, noted economists expounding on Ponzi schemes, the doxxing of Dorian, and the supposed real Satori emerging from his spiderhole to check out his shadow.

All of these caused some sort of downtrend or flash crash, from which we've rebounded back to trend, more or less.

What's left?  Excuse my naivete, but I'm having trouble imagining any bigger or badder news than what we've already seen to have any real or lasting impact on this train near future.

Any speculation on true and meaningful threats?  Impending doom?  What might bring the next flash crash?
