I thought Theymos and Badbear owned this forum as both were admins. Was Badbear paid and hence was removed from the position since he was inactive or will he again be able to join the forum in future? He was a great admin IMO.

Theymos is the defacto 'owner' of the forum and is in charge of the forum finances etc. BadBear was just an Admin. He was paid whilst he was active but he hasn't been for quite some time so was removed and you only get paid on 'work' you do. If a Staff member went on holiday for a month and did nothing they would get paid nothing.

I'm sure BadBear would be welcomed back if he returned but he sounded pretty burnt out last time I spoke to him (which is completely understandable the amount of work he had to do (he was basically doing pretty much 100% of the work with bannings and account restorations etc)). I even suggested a while back to theymos once BadBear was AWOL for a few months that he offer BadBear some sort of 'admin fee' to try entice him back out of hibernation because as it stands there is basically no difference in pay between a Global moderator and Admin and as you can probably imagine being an Admin is much more work than a Global. With that being said, Staff here are technically volunteers and not employees so we can't really complain and I'm sure every mod is very appreciative of the coins we get here but believe me when I say being Staff - especially a Global or Admin - is a hell of a lot of work and hassle and with ICO signature campaigns and farming out of control it's getting worse and more unmanageable by the day.

The work done on this forum is tremendous and I've seen you and other mods being active day-in day-out. Whenever spam threads or shill accounts are created, they get deleted in just few seconds (before I even manage to open them). I can't imagine how you'll must be working and the effort put in. I can understand Badbear's POV as well as he had a lot of work controlling spam on the forum but still wish that he comes back. As an admin or as a member. He's been a great contributor here.

Thats too bad. He was really good at what he did, and he put a lot of effort into combating the (signature) spam problem.

I think it's safe to say that the signature campaigns have resulted in you moving accounts like hot cakes, and thus made you a fair bit of money throughout the years.
Signature campaigns, yes they made it easier to trade accounts, signature campaigns are ultimately what drives the value of accounts because they allow accounts to earn income. Sig campaigns however are very different from the signature spam problem that we have.

That was very much on point. He farmed accounts and sold them to signature spammers, but on the outside he's always against spam and supporting our brave forum staff.
Hypocrisy anyone? BadBear was good, but not good enough to stop his little business and ban his ass.

Read again. It's referring to Mr Seller. I don't think an admin would last too long abusing the forum in his spare time.

I don't think pixie85 is alluding to Badbear having a side business.  The way I read it, Pixie85 is referring to Badbear's inability to ban Quickseller's ass for selling the accounts (presumably for sig wars campaigns and (inadvertently?) causing some of the spam.

...or maybe I am reading yours wrong.  Reading again...

Ah. You may well be right. I think I'm going to stop reading completely for the rest of the evening.

Yeah, too much celebrating over the WO thread re-opening I bet!

That might explain why the spam problem has become worse in the last months, but I find it rather funny that you are mentioning his approach to combat spam.

He has been inactive for a lot longer than the last few months.
Cyrus was appointed as an admin when badbear became inactive.

Inactivity. He hasn't really been active here for the past year or so. He was removed as an admin more than a month ago. Not sure when exactly but I'd say two or three. Edit: it was sometime in April.

Topic.

I am curious to know the rationale behind this. Is this because of inactivity, or is there some other reason this happened? I believe that theymos said in the past that he is one of the top admins of any forum.

I don't think this was done as of when he was removed from being trusted by DefaultTrust about a month or so ago.
