Since wx34scx got banned 10/24/2018 6:24:29 PM, markiz wasn't just plagiarizing, but also evading his ban.

I honestly don't see any chance for an unban anymore.

I support the topic .. I can repeat it here again. translators use templates. It is not always possible to get the same meaning of a sentence using a translator. so not big sentences can be used often.. punctuation is also corrected by the translator.

25. If you get banned (temporarily or permanently) and create a new account to continue posting / sending PMs, it's considered ban evasion. The only exception is creating a thread in Meta about your ban.

Expect that this your new account would be ban also.

You can’t continue posting in other thread unless it’s your thread for your ban appeal. Read the forum rules.

To be honest, I am not personally familiar with markiz73. I just looked at his threads and, in my opinion, they are meaningful. He knows a lot about equipment for mining and publishes instructions and useful information related to ASIC, GPU, etc. He can give a qualitative answer to newbies who want to buy an application-specific integrated circuit and join some Bitcoin mining pool. It seems that markiz73 is a net positive member on the forum. Although I wonder why he does not bump his own thread, I support this unban appeal.

I also want to support the request for markiz73. I myself have been offline for two months, and I understand how markiz73 goes through this and regrets.
Dear administration, we do not ask to unblock spammers, trolls or various scammers. You've probably already seen that markiz73 is a very useful forum user.
Yes, he was wrong, but this mistake was very dear to him. You can be sure that from people for whom you present a second chance to live on this forum, you will never see anything wrong. We will try to prove our usefulness, we will love and appreciate the forum even more.

I am writing a theymos quote again
There's been no policy change. redsn0w wasn't permanently banned due to several factors which made me think that permabanning him would be a net negative for the forum. Nobody is banned strictly because of "the rules"; it's always handled case-by-case, but almost always, plagiarists deserve to be permabanned.

I have a single question.
Why dear administration so applies to useful users?

Theymos,I hope you read this and make the right decision.

P.S. This is my first table. Forgiveness for any errors.

Thank you all for your attention!

I consider this user a very useful member of the forum, especially in the Russian local section.  Although I don’t really know something about mining, but if I started to get involved in it, I would use the numerous guides created by this user.  I looked through the history of his messages and found that his messages are filled with meaning, they are written in a language understandable for a beginner.  I kindly ask administrators and global moderators to pay attention to this situation, and I can advise Markiz73 not to lose hope for the best.

Due to the fact that so many users are asking, I am surprised to see that markiz73 is still not unbanned ((
I personally did not communicate with markiz73 but I trust the opinion of many of those who wrote here.
Are administrators reading this topic?
If the decision is final and is not subject to further discussion, can someone from the leadership descend from heaven and deign to report this to their unworthy Russian serfs?

Dear global moderators, markiz73 is one of the few Russian-speaking miners who can give Russian locale a lot of useful information concerning not only mining. After markiz73 received a ban on discussions in the thread Miners (Maйнepы) has become much less. Note how many people support it. This is the indicator that characterizes markiz73 as a good person. Please be kind and don't take away really useful users from us.

Here is comment from different topic and what we see here?

I translate it to you: "We lost markiz month ago, and mining section in russian local board almost DEAD"

Thank you, admins, for destroying russian local board.
Sorry, but if the section depends on 1 user - its useless section. Markiz is true, qualified miner, he worked hard for mining section, but seems that noone needs it.

PS. Im sure, that unban markiz would be fair and useful for board, not only russian local.

dear lazy admins, so what about our Markiz? Help him please.
The OP has disrespected the admin by copy and pasting posts and then you support the OP by calling admin as lazy for not taking actions on the ban appeal of OP? Well, you should be careful that you will get tagged for the ban from OP you might get tagged as an alt account and then will get ban also. Be careful and respect the admin. They may not be attending every ban appeals but they are working and I have seen some other cases in ban appeals where other users in the forum could not point on why a certain user gets ban and there come the MODz showing the real reason for ban if other users could not provide it.

<…>
In general terms, the number of earned merits as a numerical uncontextualized criteria, be it 30 or 300, is not a criteria to let people of the hook, or to allow them the benefit of a smaller punishment when breaking the rules. Even if we wanted to consider merits a sort of synonym to how useful the person is on the forum to its community, giving him another dimension to the appeal, then merits alone are not the best indicator due to the widespread criteria when awarding them (i.e. some people have managed to get those 30 merits by posting a witty onliner or a meme, whilst others may have needed 30 distinct posts to reach that amount).

One would need to look at the nature of the posts behind those merits, which is inherently I figure part of the process of evaluating one as being (or not being) “net positive” for the forum. Some boards, such as Bitcoin Mining and Bitcoin Project Development, receive a very limited amount of merits, so here again the numerical value would be unbalanced versus regular posters on other boards with similar posting capabilities.

Posting language can obviously make it harder when evaluating the intent behind, but earned merits is no substitute and should not be a sweetener directly when appealing. Local mods can help put clarify intent in these cases (although not all Local Boards have one).

This probably was overlook by the Mods or if it is auto ban then a ban appeal here in the forum will do. Though Mods are busy taking care a lot of issues and concerns, this ban appeal might still be consider lifting the ban and instead prohibit the user to wear signature over a period of time.

My only concern with this matter is that there are other users also that are good and make an appeal.but not granted. Is it unfair for them? I hope that admin will be fair in lifting ban appeals.

I was asked to help both markiz73 and tvplus006

I ask for the 3 strike method for all members even newbies

rather then the insta perm ban

below is what I posted on other thread

I was pm'd to help this member and to help

markiz73

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/ban-appeal-markiz73-5142628

I would love to help but I don't speak russian can't look at his posts  and do not know if he is bad or not bad.

so  for tvplus006 and for markiz73 my help would be as follows.

I still like the 1,2,3 strikes you are out plan  and consider it to be superior over the insta-perma bans being issued.

I am going to quote and post this on the other thread.

As I do advocate for:

strike 1) 30 day full ban
strike 2) 90 day full ban
strike 3) by by you are out of here

Try to push this case with support of your local mods Xandry and Xal0lex. They can vouch for him.

Xandry already merited (which means "support" i think) this topic.  Also, 3 DT1 members TheFuzzStone, Alex_Sr, taikuri13 which all trusted members in russian and english boards, supports unban. Does it not enough?

Are these 3 DT members are in Theymos trust list? I think theymos is trusting the moderators more than anyone else in this forum.
Xandry meriting it and not writing anything does not clear the picture at all. I am not sure whether Xandry merited it for your effort or whether Xandry agree. (In real sense, Merit does not means I agree, Instead it means I appreciate your logic or reasoning.)

PM Xandry, a personal vouch by him to theymos/Hilariousandco will definitely make things smooth.

Well there are chances that this account will be retreive again. The system of banning has been twisted a little bit for the good of users. This is really good news to every users that want to continue discussing in cryptocurrency topics but without wearing signatures.

It is a privilege to be here in the forum and wearing a signature is just a bonus. The important thing is that we can learn and earn as an extra source of income. It is not really that bad now. Admins started to become a user friendly forum.

Globals can now issue sig bans so it'll happen more often but isn't going to be a let off for everyone (so if half your posts are copy and pastes then forget about it but people who are getting banned for one or two posts from years ago will likely be shown some mercy).
It depends on how many times of plagiarism. If markiz73 only did it one or two times so far, especially did it years ago; and had good net effects, markiz73 surely will be considered and likely given a mercy, and can jump out from the grave. Above is stance of hilariousandco, that is clearly states that second chancce is not a common one for all permanent banned users due to plagiarism. As global mod wrote, each appeal will be considered carefully, by looking and finding past plagiarism, not only what already reported, but also global mod need time to dig deeply and find potential more plagiarism before making decision on a second chance. Past contributions and good net effects are clearly shown by supporters, so it is only takes time to find out more past plagiarism, I guess.

It is hard to say because it depends on perspective of admins/ global mods. Personally, I think it is enough for unban (I support), but there is one thing is not enough, it is time. Please give admins or global mods more time. Hilariousandco emphasizes on importance of waiting and patience there. With more than 1000 banned cases due to reported plagiarims, they need to spend lot of time to dig deeply in the past contributions of banned users and handled ban appeals.
Global mods were given the ability to ban signatures only yesterday. Do you think we can get through all the appeals in one day? Be patient.
Get ready for the grave jumpers:

LOL, by the way, as mods state long time ago, that they are busy to work for free, whilst abusers or bounty hunters simply enjoy money. Therefore, for someone who get unban, please don't plagiarise again to avoid two things:
- Final irreversible permanent ban;
- Unexpected loads of mods' works.

All the good things about this man have already been said above. In my humble opinion, it would be unfair to leave him in a permaban for long-standing plagiarism.

I don't know what else to add to what johhnyUA and madnessteat said about markiz73...

Also, I'm totally agree with this:

In our board, which is FULL of @mommy's cryptohaters@ and various trolls (from political trolls to crypto trolls and women haters)~

I've never participated in a signature campaign, and I'm very happy with this wave tornado of banned users.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not an adversary to the signature campaigns. If you look at them from a certain angle, they can even benefit the entire crypto community. I know that a lot of people have gotten to know the crypto-world through signature campaigns. And for someone, it was the first time the cryptocurrency/token was earned. Or maybe someone was able to feed their family through a successful signature campaign.

Earning honestly is one thing, but cheating is completely different. It was signature campaigns that brought tons of garbage to the once very good forum.

Sometimes I find posts from new users who ask about signature campaigns. They are answered by people who made some money at a bounty in the style: "Now they pay a penny, and require more and more effort.". And thanks to who? That's right, boto-farms. These bastards and idiots (farm owners) by their stupid actions have lowered the price of signature campaigns and also omitted "working conditions".
We can talk about this for a long time and at the same time, they'll keep shitting on the forum.

I don't know about you guys, but I want to see this forum "clean". For example, when I go into the thread of some service (e.g. exchange), I want to see real feedbacks, from real users, and not digging in the trash: "Yeah, awesome service, I think this service is gonna be able to bite off a piece of the market." and etc.

When I am looking at this... you know what? I want more Smiley.
...but I'm sorry to see good people under that ban-hammer, even if they made a mistake.

P.S. I apologize because of my English and possible mistakes.

From what I know ChiBitCTy was one of the recent members who got unbanned from plagiarism and using him to compare markiz73's contributions to the forum you will see that he doesn't compare to ChiBitCTy in a way theymos would reconsider him back in the forum. For one ChiBitCTy has a lot of Trusted Feedback associated with transactions in the forum compared to 1 Untrusted Feedback markiz73 has. His contributions are only limited to topics related to mining in the Russian board and some announecments on new mining equipment while ChiBitCTy on the other hand have organized charity events and even though he got banned from posting he still is active in the forum reading topics and chatting members through chat groups consisting of forum members while markiz73 on the other hand shows that he hasn't been active in the forum since the day he was banned. Using ChiBitCTy's situation as an example I don't think that markiz73 is qualified to be unbanned in the forum but it's really up to theymos to decide on his case.
There are some unbanned users: ChiBitCTy; redsn0w; and Limx Dev (as I have known so far, maybe more). It's hard to say the markiz73 deserves ban-uplift or not, because we are not admin or global mods, so we don't have which criteria they use to uplift permanent bans. They have not officially written such criteria down.
At least, markiz73 looks like a good user, with good net effects.

As an active participant of the Russian-language subforum, I can confirm all stated above. Markiz73 has contributed a lot to the community:

1) His posts on mining are highly valuable, and his expertise in this field is top-notch.

2) He's never insulted or trolled any forum members.

3) He's always ready to help newbies and provides detailed answers to their questions.

Markiz73 agrees with the ban on carrying the signature, which seems like a sufficient punishment: it guarantees that he won't receive any further
rewards but will continue to generate valuable content. This is far more important than a single old instance of plagiarising a harmless phrase.

I held the idiotic mistake twice.
If this is so important, then I agree to any alternative punishment.

This situation will be a very good lesson for me in life. I don’t know how to behave in this situation, what to expect and what to do.
I don’t want anyone to be in a similar situation both in the forum and in real life.

If theymos give me a second chance, I'll try to bring more value to the forum.

I don't think it's fair to compare everyone to ChiBitCTy or other unbanned users. Users can contribute to the forum in different ways. Is markiz73's ban "net negative" for the forum? Possibly. Worth a try to appeal it I think.

Yeah, I do get that and theymos made the point that it's a case by case basis on the way of handling ban appeals. I'm just giving the OP an example of a user who got unbanned based from the other things he have done in the forum which obviously had outweighed the plagiarism he did. I just hope theymos is in the same page on viewing markiz73's case even though he is only mainky active in the Russian board, in this case maybe some Russian members commending him might help the decision.

johhnyUA Have you asked him if he is willing to accept a signature ban?

No, but he will agree with such step.

Here his words:
У мeня ecть oчeнь oчeнь мaлeнький шaнc ocтaтьcя, блaгoдapя пocтy theymos

Moй aккayнт нe был кoммepчecким, кaзинo нe peклaмиpoвaл из пpинципa, a в дpyгиe пpoeкты бpaли peдкo.

For one ChiBitCTy has a lot of Trusted Feedback associated with transactions in the forum compared to 1 Untrusted Feedback markiz73 has.

As i said in my op post, even 3-4 positive feedbacks in russian local board it's very much. Don't compare to english section, where people accustomed to live feedbacks for succesfull trade or any another reasons. Russian mentality is another.

His contributions are only limited to topics related to mining in the Russian board and some announecments on new mining equipment

That's not enough? Russian mining thread is refers to russian local board which in turn refers to the whole forum.
"A little step for forum, but big for russian mining community"  Cheesy
Also, all in this World is very relatively. If someone contributes many to you, that's doesn't mean that he contributes something to me, for example.

Hence, I, as a member of russian local board asks to unban Markiz. And, i would never asked to unban ChiBitCTy. Not because i don't like him or something. Just because i didn't know about his existence until suchmoon's post (https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.51016858)   Wink

while ChiBitCTy on the other hand have organized charity events and even though he got banned from posting he still is active in the forum reading topics and chatting members through chat groups consisting of forum members while markiz73 on the other hand shows that he hasn't been active in the forum since the day he was banned

I'm not a miner, maybe Markiz also active in others mining chats or groups. ChiBitCTy and yogg have a general chat, so yogg used it as an argument. You can't say "he is not active" just because you don't know for sure active he or not  Smiley

By the way for people who are wondering his unban conditions also comes with a signature ban. Just go to his profile and you will see his sig section saying "Banned from displaying signatures until March 09, 2020, 08:24:44 PM" so if you just want to unban him for him to join signature campaigns you need to consider this one.

Yep, i wrote about sig ban in my starter post.

There's been no policy change. redsn0w wasn't permanently banned due to several factors which made me think that permabanning him would be a net negative for the forum. Nobody is banned strictly because of "the rules"; it's always handled case-by-case, but almost always, plagiarists deserve to be permabanned.

If you think that a ban should be ended, make your case in a new topic from a "good for the forum as a whole" perspective.

Users of the Russian locale know markiz73 as a decent and friendly user of the forum, behind his shoulders a huge experience in mining, which he shares with everyone for free. I, like other Russian users, was very surprised when he found a copypaste in his messages. He made a mistake and is ready to answer for it, but he wants to stay with us. I believe that forum society should fight for useful users in any way. Let it remain with us without the right to wear a signature for a while rather than go to another forum.

Hello, i would like to ask unban for user markiz73

I know, that he was banned for plagiarism, one of the most terrible and inhuman misconduct on our forum. But i have some reasons to ask for unban for him.

1).  He is very useful in miners thread

1. Most of his posts were in miners section, where he gives useful advices for noobs and experienced. You can see it from his trust page (in russian board 1-2 feedbacks is very awesome, even trustworthy members like TheFuzzStone often have not more than 5 feedbacks). First his topic was in mining section and he was not indifferent to future of russian mining section.

2. He created a lot of guides and useful (not superficial) analytics about mining. For example:
GPU and CPU situation
mining histories
AMD mining analytic
comparison RTX 2080 and RTX 2080TI
Advices to not be fooled

Also he notified about different new asics and hardware:
Grin asics
Antminer D3
Bitfury Tardis
......

3. He busted different scams which belonged (not only) to mining.
Scam warning 1
Scam warning 2
Scam warning 3

2).  He is helpful enough in russian local board

Russian local board was the first from all other local boards and still the most popular

I remember him as a person, who always answered to different newbie questions. Even his last post was an answer to question about transaction acceleration  Grin
He translated some useful topics from english board Wasabi Wallet and Vanitygen for new our sub board  Oбcyждeниe Bitcoin

3).  He is not a troll or bitcoin hater

In our board, which is FULL of @mommy's cryptohaters@ and various trolls (from political trolls to crypto trolls and women haters), this is, without a doubt, large pros.

Yep, this is not too much. He was not the usefullest person on our forum, and even in russian local board, but i believe he was usefullest for russian miners and that he will be useful for forum and crypto community in the future.

So, i believe that permaban for his account it's unfair not only (and not mostly) to him, but for people who needs his advices. Yes, he copypasted text to fill more posts for signature campaign, that's bad. But sig ban will solve this problem. Markiz will not have incentives to copypaste again, but still useful for russian local community.

Thanks for your attention.
