This is a super dangerous chemical! It causes tens of millions of deaths per year.
....

It was a funny joke. About 20 years ago.

Dihydrogen monoxide is simply another term for water. Some jokers are trying to combine other chemicals with this name. It's all a trick to see haw much fake news jokers can get people to believe.

but worse: also in beer!
Only the strongest beverages are largely free of this substance.

Smoke weed, save lives!

Alcohol is also a solution.

Avoid that deadly dihydrogen monoxide though!

You gotta remember that people need something to drink. Pure alcohol doesn't quench the thirst at all!

Cool

EDIT:
200 Proof Alcohol: Contains 100% Ethanol. (Specification is 200 Proof) All Ethanol products have a proof associated with the product description. The proof is the measure of water dihydrogen monoxide content of the Ethanol portion of the product and any level of proof can be manufactured based upon the amount of water dihydrogen monoxide added.

Pure Undenatured Ethanol: Pure Ethanol is Ethyl Alcohol with no other additives or denaturants. Pure Ethanol is often referred to as pure alcohol even though the term "pure" can refer to any proof. Pure Alcohol is considered "pure" regardless of the "cut" of water dihydrogen monoxide (proof). Pure Alcohol (Ethanol) is commonly referred to as Beverage Grade Alcohol. It is always 192 proof and derived from natural sources.

Pure USP Alcohol: Pure Alcohol is also often referred to as USP Alcohol. That is because only pure, undenatured Ethanol can be certified as USP or NF Grade. Not all pure alcohol is USP grade certified, but only 190 and 200 proof pure ethanol which meets or exceeds the stringent standards set forth in the US Pharacopoeia.

Natural vs. Synthetic Ethyl Alcohol: All Ethanol products can be made with naturally derived Ethanol (Grain alcohol or grain neutral spirits) or synthetically produced Ethanol. Natural alcohol is commonly referred to as Grain Alcohol. While grain and synthetic alcohol are technically the same, there are differences in the limited amount of contaminants in the product in the parts per million (ppm) range.

Federal Excise Taxes & Permits Required:  All Pure Ethanol products may be purchased without a permit from the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax Trade Bureau (TTB). All pure alcohols (ethanol) are considered 'Taxable Alcohol'. TTB requires payment of excise tax of $13.50/proof gallon (200 Proof, Pure Alcohol = $27.00/Wine Gallon). A tax exempt certificate is required to be on file with Capitol Scientific to avoid paying federal excise tax on pure alcohol.

Federal & State Law Requirements: You must be the age of 21 or over to purchase of pure ethanol (non-denatured) alcohol products. All TTB, federal, state and local laws must be complied with.  You may be required to furnish a state or federal license even if purchasing products with federal excise tax added.  Please contact us directly for help with determining your licensing requirements.

This is exactly the sort of thing people who fear socialism remind me of.

"IT WAS USED BY HITLER"

All you have to do is ignore a hundred years of failure and millions of lives taken as a result of the ideology of Socialism and your analogy makes perfect sense!

What's this got to do with dihydrogen monoxide? I can promise you dihydrogen monoxide has killed or influenced the deaths of more individuals than socialism and capitalism combined.

Well, people drown, don't they? I mean, consider the Great Flood of Noah's day. There were probably at least a billion and a half people that perished in that flood. Dihydrogen monoxide has killed a lot of people.

What a load of rubbish. First of all, "dihydrogen monoxide" is not the proper scientific name for this substance; that term was invented by scaremongers to confuse the chemical-phobic public. The IUPAC preferred name for this substance is "oxidane". Second, the chemical industry has years of experience in working with oxidane and has developed safe practices for handling it. When properly handled, the dangers of oxidane are minimal. Personal protective equipment (PPE) designed for oxidane exposure is widely available and easily prevents many accidents.

Additionally, much of the harm attributed to oxidane is in fact the result of chemical and biological impurities that often contaminate otherwise safe oxidane supplies (indeed, 97.5% of the world's natural deposits of oxidane are too heavily contaminated to be industrially or commercially useful). Pure oxidane is an extremely safe product and is available inexpensively from most industrial and scientific chemical suppliers.

This message brought to you by our friends at the Oxidane Foundation.

LOL!

Forty-three students favored banning DHMO, six were undecided, and only one correctly recognized that ‘dihydrogen monoxide’ is actually plain old water.

The water molecule has the chemical formula H2O, meaning each molecule of water is composed of two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom. Literally, the term "dihydrogen monoxide" means "two hydrogen, one oxygen", consistent with its molecular formula: the prefix di- in dihydrogen means "two", the prefix mon- in monoxide means "one", and an oxide is an oxygen atom attached to another atom in an ionic compound.

Quote
Death due to accidental inhalation of DHMO, even in small quantities.
Prolonged exposure to solid DHMO causes severe tissue damage.
Excessive ingestion produces a number of unpleasant though not typically life-threatening side-effects.
DHMO is a major component of acid rain.
Gaseous DHMO can cause severe burns.
Contributes to soil erosion.
Leads to corrosion and oxidation of many metals.
Contamination of electrical systems often causes short-circuits.
Exposure decreases effectiveness of automobile brakes.
Found in biopsies of pre-cancerous tumors and lesions.
Given to vicious dogs involved in recent deadly attacks.
Often associated with killer cyclones in the U.S. Midwest and elsewhere, and in hurricanes including deadly storms in Florida, New Orleans and other areas of the southeastern U.S.
Thermal variations in DHMO are a suspected contributor to the El Nino weather effect.
