hmm were they searching for keywords, or just monitoring individuals of interest. i have worked with teksystems before, i am curious if anyone can find the job postings to "data mining on forums". Or maybe they reached out to the best they had without posting a job on their site.

I'm just curious what it was used for. For instance if they waited around for people to "schedule" an "attack" or if they legitimately wanted to spy and track/monitor people. I think it only makes sense for someone in their position to scan the internet broadly as to whether an attack against them would happen or something. Then they theoretically could try to prevent or minimize the effects.

Unimpressed. Monitoring public forums (which anyone is free to do) hardly counts as spying, regardless of what word search you use. You or I could do similar things with a Google search.
