Good thing that OP now clearly admit the fact that he had violated the rules in copy and pasting of posts. A lesson is learned and it is up to other users here to reflect in this to avoid getting ban in the future.

I do believe that OP had become an examle of abusing the forum and getting a punishment. You just deserve it OP and wishes you good luck on your next venture. You can check other cryptocurrency forums but when we compare bitcointalk to other forums then clearlt bitcointalk for me is the best forum to learn and earn.

Hey Man thanks. Its right, i have posted many updates of projects which im am/was invested or involved (quantstamp, utrust, status as a community manager, translator, or tester). Call it careless, lazy or whatever but i can tell that my intention was never negative. Mostly i posted the twitter link. But sometimes i just forgot it or i didnt really care. For me it was obvious thats the news is not orginal written by me.
But yeah, i can see that a lot is going on regarding forum bans.
I have no choice but to accept the punishment.

Yeah that could work too, but really just hassle having to click links to read news and dangerous too. Sure add the link if people need clarification that this is a news update for this project. Once he been told now he will know better in future.

I blame the devs more for abandoning the forum that made their project possible in the first place. Usually because they are too busy or don't want to face any probing questions from the community.

I stick to my opinion that perm ban for such an action is not fit punishment for this over-sight or general opinion it is obviously not your original work since you are not the developer (unless you are the developer). Honestly it would have never entered even into my mind that if I was posting new news for my fav projects from their twitter because they were too lazy then I needed to provide a link to the twitter announce .  Seems a waste of time to me (i prefer to keep the community all on this board not going to social media and slack) and I am doing them (devs) a favour and the community even bringing them the news the dev team could not be bothered to furnish them with. Also I would be getting nothing out of it at all (perhaps only long term benefits of keeping community together and positive so they hodl not dump)

that badbear quote seems unrelated to this? this is not a bump are you saying the dev of a project can not make more than 1 reply or post on his own ann per day even when answering questions? This seems to be relevant only if there was more than one major news/update announcement in a day per project which seems unlikely. I am sure new update is allowed on top of regular replies to the community. I mean it is a discussion board right.


If the news has been posted already on that thread then that is a bit different but if his only copy and pastes are this then if people think that is worthy of perm ban that is up to them. I will never agree that I think it is worth a perm ban if he is otherwise a useful and net positive poster.

I will continue to say only net negative blatant shit posters and those that are bot spamming with copy and paste for financial reasons should be perm banned.

Let's be frank this entire freak out regarding copy and paste is due to shitposters now grabbing tons of other material they never created and using it generally off topic or spun up to parrot what has already been said just to get their btc dust of dust. They are the people that need to be stopped.

Worst punishment really 1-2 month posting ban or 6 month no signature. Put him on the no sig list (we start a thread for them) from today and then we check see if he sticks to it. If not perm ban.

Can you show me the rules that prevent devs or any supporting member from updating the thread with news and updates in their own ANN?

I much prefer to get a notification my projects threads are being updated then see the news.

Which project are a dev team member of and did you already post the news on the thread here before he did?

Also I am saying he should not be perm banned I am saying just for posting news from twitter in correct thread then no he should not get perm banned if he is an other wise good poster. I do not think that would be fair or sensible. Actually the action of banning him would be net negative.

Many plagiarists try to make themselves seem "topical" by plundering twitter, ICO white papers, medium, etc for content. It's plagiarism all the same. It is most certainly not the obligation of the reader to determine the intent of the plagiarizing shithead if said shithead can't be bothered to spend 10 seconds to make their intent clear.

I think its a simple Copy/Paste issues and as OP stated he is here on the forum from 2 years, that means he should know the most basic rule of the forum that posting content from other websites without the source link should be considered as copy paste. There is not much point in explaining it to him with such long posts. Still, I appreciated your efforts.

I do not go and visit twitter ever regarding any of my fav projects. I actually hardly visit social media.

I want to stay on this forum for all of my crypto projects news where they were launched and where the main community can meet and discuss. I notice community fragment when you start pushing news to social media and discussions to other crap like slack or whatever

I like to see the ann thread updated with important news.

The devs teams should be doing this and i find it disrespectful to this board and the community that they do not bother bringing news to where the community is and where the project got its start. I think devs should not vanish from here and they should be available for questions from the community not just hiding up and squirting the odd bit of news on facebook or twitter.

There is nothing wrong with the latest news being brought to the specific threads for that project. It is good to keep community spirit and discuss these things on thread. It helps to see new updates and chat to others in that thread about those changes.

Bumping the thread with new and real updates/news is a good thing . If i was running a project I would insist on it but would do it myself as the dev/dev team because I would consider bitcointalk the home of my project and the first place I would update.

That would be acceptable if he translated those tweets and posted them in translated thread he is managing.
In each ANN thread there is a link to the project official page, so what is the purpose from reposting beside the intention to bump the thread!

It is your JOB as community manager here to copy and paste twitter news to the thread of the same project.

If there are instances of him shitposting for bucks an not helping people or 99% of the time being net positive then bye bye.

If he is a proven member of each community he posted for and was simply updating members in the threads with the news (that devs are often too lazy to even copy to their threads here or just don't have time hence why they have community managers or snr community members)  I have been asked many times actually by teams to do this for them to their threads on this board when I was supporting (still am) their attempts to fill pieces of the trustless decentralised puzzle.

I think the ONUS should be on the reporters to say if the account is net positive or net negative and a general financially motivated shit poster. You get net positive people removed then you become net negative to the board yourselves.

We want rid of financially motivated shit posters who use bots to copy and paste because they do not care about putting effort and creating their own original work and making and original contribution these care nothing for ruining our environment by dilution with this usually off topic or parroting text spun shit. He does not look like this kind of person from this original presentation.

If he can present a case that he is a member of each community and bringing news to their threads from twitter that would not otherwise reach the members of that community here. Then give him a chance and just a 1 month ban as a lesson that NOW apparently everything needs quotes and good attempt at references.

I would not want to see even 1 honestly net positive member who is just got lazy once or believed it was obvious this was not his own work who was not posting just for financial rewards get a perm ban. It is not in the spirit of this board or this entire movement here.

He doesn't own any of the accounts he copied and pasted the texts from since he doesn't do that from only one but from a lot of them. He mostly have posted the tweet link along with them. See below:

A ban is a bit of an overkill in this situation. He should have posted with a source but in this case it looks like the user has been trying to be helpful rather than gaining activity on their account by copy and pasting. This is probably the first time I have seen someone plagiarize and feel sorry for them that they got banned.

No wonder he doesn't remember it if it's 5 months ago... It seems a bit strange if it's not spotted for 5 months and they get to gain merit and activity and waste time doing it in the process... Although, plagiarism is plagiarism unless he can prove he owns that Twitter account or got permission to copy their messages (and the recent posts might have been deleted)...
