are you serious?Huh This is too easy ... let me find better example to check our math basics Smiley ... just give me a minute ;]

better example to check for math newbies Cheesy Smiley :
41+(5+5)-70+(33+2)2*2=

41+(5+5)-70+(33+2)2*2 = 4 + 10 - 1 + 352 * 2 = 13 + 1225 * 2 = 13 + 2450 = 2463
I didn't need a calculator for this one Wink

I HAVE SOMETHING ONLY FOR ELITE! :

Find the right 'x'.

x= z*y+v
z = sqrt(845+0.121)*33)
y = 2*sqrt [( sqrt(9768/1) * 4/sqrt(9768/1) )]
v = 2560

The answer will make you feel much better Smiley

z = sqrt(845+0.121)*33) = sqrt(845.121*33) = sqrt(27888.993) =~167
y = 2*sqrt [( sqrt(9768/1) * 4/sqrt(9768/1) )] = 2*sqrt [( sqrt(9768) * 4/sqrt(9768))] = 2*sqrt [4] = 2 * 2 = 4
v = 2560 = 1

x = z*y+v = 167 * 4 + 1 = 669

Didn't need a calculator for this one either.

Neat, looks like 1 person missed it. I wonder who it was. Come on -- come out and admit it.  Tongue

I was the second person to get it wrong.

I used to be very good at maths but I honestly have no idea how to do this, even after seeing the correct answer.

Use it or lose it I guess :/

Because it's a binome (dunno the English word for it).

(a+b)2=a2+2*a*b+b2
You only have to use the binomial formula when there is a variable in it. Sure, it also works with numbers, but it is unnecessary work. The answer is 2463.

That reminds me of another one, just as "easy" but sort of complicated in length (was 6th grade during some fun lesson by math teacher).

Replace every letter by a cipher so it becomes valid:

If it was 352, then you would be right.
P.S. 1089+2*33*2+4 = 1225

Smiley Please Smiley Count it again and tell me is the right answer was 2463? Smiley

Because it's a binome (dunno the English word for it).

(a+b)2=a2+2*a*b+b2

(33+2) * (33+2) = 1225

nothing will change that.

4+10-1+(1089+2*33*2+4)*2=
13+2442=2455

4 + 10 - 1 + 35 * 35 * 2 = 2463

35 * 35 = 1225
1225 * 2 = 2450
2450+10+3=2463

P.S. 1089+2*33*2+4 = 1225

Smiley Smiley  you were close Tongue perhaps you mistake + with - Tongue

4+10-1+(1089+2*33*2+4)*2=
13+2442=2455

and why it is that?
(33+2)2     =    1225 Smiley
sqr(33+2) = 1225 no doubt.

Due to someone asking for math homework, I was shocked at the amount of incorrect answers.

I'm curious here how 'skilled' at basic math a lot of people are here.

Please don't share answers in the posts below, I'm actually trying to see how 'smart' some people think they are.
