I agree, I have seen that activity is reduced on this forum. May be because of less demand of BTC due to price crash.

Lol.  Not only is it more than 50%, it's probably well into the 9X%.
I think 9x% is way too much Wink i think its just around 8x% some people here are just too quiet they don't bother themselves from getting their names to be one of those bastards spamming around here.

I think there has been fewer signature campaigns--legitimate ones that pay in bitcoin-
Well, you're right, there has been less campaigns nowadays, and even good ICOs to support. I guess that will be it. It will take some time before new ones go pop up in the internet, I think?
Quote from: The Pharmacist
-but look at the average shitposter's signature space.  Chances are he's advertising some shady ICO from the altcoin section.
Totally, I've been seeing those from the Jr. Members of these forum. At first, I thought it was from the campaigns but it was too short unlike the REAL signatures from the campaigns.

The merit system hasn't really reduced anything other than the amount of shit posters ranking up.
I guess you're right, but the fact the spammed messages are being reduced by the mods, with the high number of spammers, its getting useless.

Give it a break will you.  This was bound to happen.  Just the fact that it's above $7500 should be good for you.
Wait until it breaks passed $10,000 and goes higher.
People who start these threads will be laughed at  Grin

People who can't tell the difference between BCT and BTC are also laughed at.

My perception is that, in terms of meaningful discussion, the forum is dead on its feet.
Gross Alexa visitor figures will no doubt be increasing, solely due to the vast quantity of ICO/shitcoin/shittoken related posting and bounty claiming.
With some Airdrop/Bounty threads running to 100 + pages and [ANN] threads a training ground for spam, BCT has effectively morphed into a free back office for scammers.

Introduction of merit system on the forum have reduced the number of shit posts as well as newbies and multiple account makers.
Nah, its not reduced the amount of spam that's being made. Its just not being rewarded like it used to with the old activity, and ranking up system. The merit system hasn't really reduced anything other than the amount of shit posters ranking up.

Eh?  That's not what I've been seeing.  You'd think this should be the case, but idiots are still finding plenty of bounty work that's not dependent on rank (or even a clean trust score).  As long as those opportunities exist, we're still going to have the spam problem, which we currently have up the wazoo.

More than 50% people on this forum are here not to learn and stay updated but to make posts and earn through campaigns.
Lol.  Not only is it more than 50%, it's probably well into the 9X%.

Also reduction in good signature campaigns nowadays has sent the crowd away from the forum.
I think there has been fewer signature campaigns--legitimate ones that pay in bitcoin--but look at the average shitposter's signature space.  Chances are he's advertising some shady ICO from the altcoin section.  And in addition to spamming bitcointalk, he's probably spamming Facebook and Twitter as well.  I'm not sure how effective the social media spamming is, but it seems like it shouldn't be if you have real followers.  I would unfriend in a heartbeat anyone constantly posting ICO advertising, and there's no way I'd follow anyone on Twitter who did the same.

And now it is above $8000. So much of movement in such less time is a proof that all hope is not lost. The forum is also doing fine.

Introduction of merit system on the forum have reduced the number of shit posts as well as newbies and multiple account makers. As its hard to gain merits and rank up now, people are giving up as they are not able to earn through signature campaigns or bounty campaigns. More than 50% people on this forum are here not to learn and stay updated but to make posts and earn through campaigns. Also reduction in good signature campaigns nowadays has sent the crowd away from the forum. I would say this is a good thing as only those people will stay on forum those actually care about BTC and cryptocurrencies and want to learn something and share knowledge with others. This is start and foundation of a better community.

Is it just me or the Forum is really peaceful now?
It seems there aren't some issues that pops up a while  ago, unlike these past few months that we almost get tired of seeing some trivial issues and a lot of useless post everywhere ( you can include this as well  Tongue ) by the noobs.
But now, I rarely see those here. Can we say that the cleaning is a success? Or is it just the newbies have gone tired of posting useless topics?
I think those noobs from the past have already learned their lessons.

-Having A Nice Day Smiley
Your guess is as good as mine or as anyone's here. The noobs have discovered that they can't rank up with mere increase in activity (which of course is dependent on post counts which needlessly encouraged spamming). With this awareness, the noobs as well as certain veteran members have stopped junk posting. Some have actually stopped posting entirely while those who ran numerous accounts are now concentrating on one account and improving on it as account farming is now frown upon here. I guess this explains that.

Discussions regarding merit are temporary, people will get used to it with time. For ban related queries, a new section is needed .
This is one of such cases in question of how to spam. Yes, I nitpicked it but does anyone even understand what this post is saying in relation to the issue at hand or the quote he attempted addressing?

Below is the complete quote of the above:
...

Well, all I can see here in meta are ban appeals, hacked account and merit questions... Succulents debates seem quite off.
I wouldn`t say "quiet", but "boring"

I have an idea: Lift AntiCen's or his alts' Ban, then the Bitcoin Development and Technical Discussion board will be busy and lively as always. /s
It seems like users are now more active on reporting posts and moderators are now much more active in my observation (their response time to my reports).
And theymos might be planning to add a little incentive to active reporters.
Heroes and Legendaries are paying for a useless title "copper member" to pimp their profiles so, a badge will surely encourage most users to use that button.
Many reasons :

1) Bitcoin related searches and queries have went down. Most important reason.

2) Merit system also helped discourage spammers.
Thanks! If I didn't saw this post I wouldn't have noticed it.

Forum is not quieter but the way of communication in this forum changed.
I think in real "Merit" make the spam problem more worse. Earlier it is the spam that you can directly ignore.
Now the forum has "Merit" quality spam also in which people are creatinf some technical discussion thread without actually identifying the target audience and remind be below joke and the highlighted line.

*************************
A helicopter was flying around above Seattle when an electrical malfunction disabled all of the aircraft's electronic navigation and communications qquipment. Due to the clouds and haze, the pilot could not determine the helicopter's position and course to fly to the airport. The pilot saw a tall building, flew toward it, circled, drew a handwritten sign, and held it in the helicopter's window. The pilot's sign said "WHERE AM I?" in large letters. People in the tall building quickly responded to the aircraft, drew a large sign and held it in a building window. Their sign read: "YOU ARE IN A HELICOPTER." The pilot smiled, waved, looked at her map, determined the course to steer to SEATAC airport, and landed safely. After they were on the ground, the co-pilot asked the pilot how the "YOU ARE IN A HELICOPTER" sign helped determine their position. The pilot responded "I knew that had to be the Microsoft building because, like their technical support, online help and product documentation, the response they gave me was technically correct, but completely useless."

I find the forum a little quieter now in terms of discussion. The big rally in price and interest in the latter part of last year has died down. A lot of the subjects like the introduction of Segwit, the forks and Lightning Network are no longer new. There's a little less discussion and controversy about Merit as people are finally getting used to it or haven't been here long enough to remember what it was like before.
Yeah. This is exactly what I mean.  If you guys would be out for a while and then comeback, you'll also see what I mean. Wink And by the way, don't include those boards like beginner and help, altcoin discussion and economics as for it will never be peaceful as I think.
No offense but if you're kinda looking for trash or want to throw off something then its better to be on those boards. Off topic section is kinda useless right now Smiley

To me, Beginners and Hell (sorry, help) used to be a good place to answers some questions, or even to get others. Now, all seems to be related to Airdrop/Bounties, how to get merits, or how to spam the forum, absurds guides (copied pasted from other`s originals ideas)...

I don't know why the mods don't move or delete those threads. Maybe Bitcoin Talk has been taken over by the globalists. Smiley

If I want to award some merits on the beginners board, then I open pages 5 and 6, and look through the threads there. Often the decent threads haven't received many replies, and they have dropped off the first pages fairly quickly. The Twitbook and bounty spammers keep the rubbish on the early indices.

If you feel the pain going on bitcoin discussion and altcoin discussion and speculation(altcoins) i can say that it's not quiet as what op thinks. I was comparing beginners and help section is more likely readable and informative rather than threads on bitcoin discussion.

I feel we are losing that board too, for mostly all the post are about something unrelated to its name. In fact, every day I see a lot of announcements: ICOs, Airdrops, etc, something that doesn`t belong to that board, and, still there are. It is as if the beginner's board were being invaded by the Altcoin one.

Depends what you define as peaceful or quiet. I'm not sure if you're posting on the same forum I am. Forum is still a shitshow populated by thousands of swarming clueless idiots posting the same crap asked everyday.....

Probably he went zen and or he has 90% of the boards on ignore.

If you lurk in the mining section you might feel the need to check the hashrate of the chain as the number of threads and replies there will let you believe mining is really dead.  Grin
In mining speculation, the last topic on the first page was last updated on March 30  Shocked

But if you go to bitcoin discussion...the drama begins as I'm reporting at least 10 threads each day and probably there are 3 times more nuked before I even have the chance to.

Real discussions and controversies like the whole segwit/cash/ln/block drama have died down, he might be  right about those but pointless ones are still going up in numbers.

Hmm, IMO "peaceful" state seems unattainable since total eradication of shitposters and spammers are inevitable but at least everything is much better now Smiley. The forum is now more quiet compare before that even this section (Meta) was once flooded by unnecessary posts about merit system.

Though I still see some newbies doing redundant and nonsense topics, I admit that it is much lesser now which is quite impressive because it only means that the Shitposters Squad is now losing motivation to continue their bad habits Grin.

Well I've stopped trying to generate meritable posts on the beginners board after my thread about it was locked here in Meta. I still don't understand why that thread was locked, but if the mods don't want me to try to promote those threads in beginners, then I don't want to argue with them. I still think it's strange though. I find it extremely difficult to find a thread that is worth opening in beginners now, and of course that means I can't award any merits there.

Talking about "Cleaning" the forum is still on progress (you can check this thread and volunteer to be one spam busters) and Moderators and Spam busters (including me) are still in the middle of the war against these spammers. That's why I don't feel that the forum become peaceful these days. But yeah, I think somehow, spammers making topics about Merits repeatedly suddenly decreased.

But the war we are facing now are against rebel soldiers from "twitbooks" and "Good project" and they are way too many. We're outnumbered, we need backup! (Soldier contacting the base).

I haven’t noticed anything, apart from fewer posts complaining about the merit system. But we get some posts about how good merit is on meta, which are a surreptitious way of begging for merit- Bitcoin discussion and Economics look the same to me and I don’t visit the alts sections but from what I read, it seems to me nothing has changed.
