Being a good listener is absolutely an important skill.
When you are able to listen to others you are in a way, training yourself to be less reactive and more tolerant of different peoples points of view.
This is a valuable skill in the workplace as well as socially.

Being a good listener is underrated. Often, people forget about the fact that they can make big waves provided they learn to listen more and talk less. Being a good listener also includes being able to be on the same page with people burn the bridges in order to be closer. Being a good listener is beyond hardwork or smart work.

Some people don't know how to say I'm sorry. Thanks for speaking your mind. I'd improve the situation"  to be a highly successful and valued person you need to learn to be empathetic through generous Listening to people.

Your break through is hidden in your listening skills, your ability to be in people's good book, your ability to express empathy. I listen to people 98%  of the time, then I decide quietly through actions. You should stay  away from people that argue empty tin milk is noisy.

You can become a good friend to those who need friendship and you will be valued if you have these kinds of traits, we all want someone to listen to us in times of trouble and we trust a friend who can listen and kept our secret, psychologists are good in listening that is why they earned the trust of their clients.

...
my teacher at school used to say the majority of those who were successful were 'good listeners'

Being a good listener is synonymous with someone who is unselfish and open-minded. if you talk too much and don't want to listen to other people then don't be angry if many people don't like you, even stay away from you.

The loneliness of the speaker if a person spends most of the day alone he tends to talk more. This loneliness can be due to any family or professional reason the speaker can also talk more to get someone's attention many people become accustomed to talking too much for family or professional reasons People from professions like politicians teachers etc. naturally talk more many ordinary people also become good speakers when they get a good or ideal audience or a complimentary response from the audience.

I've been working at my listening skill for years and Oh boy how hard it is. Like most humans, I have to always remind myself to just listen and not listen because I want to give a response. Most of the times I actually paid hundred percent full attention it was easy to find clarity, see patterns and the other individual actually felt that I was genuine and truly cared. Ever wondered why Clinical Psychologists listen more than they speak whenever they have a therapy session with a client?

In job, in talks, and everything you do, being a good listener is actually an asset. You'll be showing better results in your job if you're a good listener inside the office when your boss tells you exactly what to do.

They don't want to repeat themselves so it's part of the impression to them that you're one good listener.
