Be patient and not lazy. Simple copy/paste can lead to turning bankrupt from being a millionaire. Better do everything manually and double check every single letter. Hackers are creative, they can struck from where you least expect.

I always smile when I see a persons rushes to make a transaction, but chooses slowest possible way to make it, as he tries to save on a fee. So lame. Here is an advice, better slowly type an address, but make a fast transaction, then copy/paste received address and choose "slow, 1b/sat" transaction.

yes, I've made that mistake. did not check the delivery destination address. but luckily it went to my friend's address which was the last transaction I did before.
even though the funds didn't disappear and came back, it was enough to surprise me when the transaction was confirmed to be complete but the balance didn't go to the destination address. from now on, shipping transactions to other people, or exchanges I always double-check the address details.
Luckily it was your friend's wallet, but it will never come back if you send it to another wallet. Be sure to check the address twice or thrice before confirming the transaction.
Check the first 3 and last 3 digits of your wallet address while copy-pasting the address.
I checked the shipping address in more detail and even repeatedly copied the destination address correctly, it took me at least 3 minutes to check the destination address, so it's better not to rush your transfer of funds to another address than we send the wrong address to the wrong address and it will make we are frustrated.

Awareness of the existence of malware and basic security on your machine is very important, you never know if malware already infected your machines, invest in an anti-virus if you're using Windows OS and be mindful of what you're clicking, I have three anti-viruses in my machine and also using Brave a better browser if you want security while surfing and do not feel confident that you know everything, scammers are improving and always devising a new way to scam or hack people's wallet because they know many people are careless and uneducated on how to protect their coins.

It's not entirely reliable to use the Brave browser. Would you like the browser to secretly collect all the information about the sites you visit, changing links to referrals? In addition, it was noticed that the browser leaked the data of users who used TOR, thereby exposing them. And although their new version allows you to bypass TOR blocking, all its previous holes do not inspire confidence in its full functionality. Should you trust a product that regularly receives accusations? Take a look in Firefox.

Also on the subject, read how dangerous it can be to use the copy and paste keys, CTRL-C and CTRL-V.

People see crypto as one of the fastest ways to earn money which is possibly right but it could be wrong, it depends on the knowledge of the person if they want to commit really into the crypto space actually with the transactions it depends on the fee you pay to make the transactions, ideal to check the mempool.space regarding with the ideal sat/byte if you want to send your funds, but in exchanges, there's a fix rate you need to comply else you cannot cash out your funds.

Scammers have also found way to create addresses that are identical to the one you sent payment to last, do not look at the last four numbers/ alphabet and say it's the same, that's what scammers want you to think.

I have been a victim of this a couple of times when I was a novice and i lost quite a good amount of money in the process and ever since then I have learned never to carelessly send my coins to any address without proper verification of the receiver address and if possible I check the wallet alphabets one after another to make sure everything is correct before I send any transaction from my wallet.
Am glad you raise this issue just to warn newbies who are the most targeted by scammers.

Making a withdrawal or deposit is a ritual that really needs to be scrutinized. I always check repeatedly whether the address I copied is correct according to the address I want to go to.
Sometimes the addresses copied are not the same, it indicates that the device is exposed to malware that changes the address when copying and pasting, it will be very dangerous if we are not careful.
There are many ways that fraudsters do to steal their target's crypto assets.

New investors are always advised to have patience when investing in crypto, there is no shortcut to making money in crypto space but there is something else I want you guys to be aware of

Whenever you want to make a transaction using your crypto wallet always take your time, do not rush as this can lead to regretful mistakes later, always check the receiver's address very well.

If you want to deposit to any exchange always log into the exchange and copy the address, do not copy the exchange address in a sheet and keep using it, exchanges can update the address.

Scammers have also found way to create addresses that are identical to the one you sent payment to last, do not look at the last four numbers/ alphabet and say it's the same, that's what scammers want you to think.

I agree never be in a rush to do a transaction. And never let anyone to put you under pressure to make a transactions. Scammers feed on the victims impatience because they know that they have a split second until the victim recovers themselves. On the other hand, aside scammers, always take it slow. Last year, I read the story of someone who sent $800 worth of bitcoin to a wrong bitcoin address. Why? He was driving and put under pressure to make the transaction quick. He should have waited until he got to his destination but he didn't. Coins got lost forever.

Not Your Keys, Not Your Bitcoin
........................

Above all, if you have a large amount of Bitcoin that you intend to send between two wallets either personal or exchange, try and test a little amount before pushing all your funds to your destination wallet, it will save you a lot. Imagine sending all your coins only to discover that your clipboard has been hijacked by malware, not that I'm saying your computer or device is not immune to attack, it is just a precautionary action I choose to avoid unnecessary stories that will give me heartache, it is better to pay a cent to test your destination wallet than lose all your money at once.

Patience and attention to details are important skills in dealing with cryptocurrencies. A single mistake can be disastrous. If you are not patient to double-check your transaction details, you would spend more time and resources to trace the fund you lost.

Anyone that perceives the crypto space as a get-rich-quick system would soon be scammed. This is because he would be attracted to the mouthwatering profits advertised by fraudsters and would soon lose their investment. Bitcoin is a long-term investment that only suit the brave and patient.

If everyone comes in crypto with thinkings that cryptocurrency is something helpful with real use cases for their use and for society and they spend money to invest in cryptocurrency because they believe that it will grow with time because of helpfulness for society, it means the world will reach to a global adoption for cryptocurrency. That is massive and we are not there yet.

People currently join cryptocurrency market with naively and stupid thinkings that they can get rich, get rich quickly.

Checking everything from first to last characters of addresses and don't forget to add memo (some blockchains and some exchanges require Memo codes for transactions and withdrawals). If they require memo code and you forget to add it for your transactions, your deposits, withdrawals will go to the air.

Right now have been easy because you can save with wallet destination or sending due use Metamask or sending from decentralized exchange market to cold address, so less mistake made when you saved all wallet transaction for withdrawing or sending fund. Some time your computer be careful when accessing to some website and possibility with copy paste malware and your wallet not read and use scam wallet for sending coins.

I have one question, when we save wallet as contact, is this really a safe way to get rid of address poisoning or any kind of fake address? Because several people in the group suggest similar things for security reasons. While I have never tried it so far. because I still feel it's safest not to save the address book/contacts for the wallet which incidentally is from the exchange. As mentioned, exchange wallets may can be changes, so this is the reason I always input/scan for sending. There is concern (for my self), the virus can change the address on the contact if I save it that way.

This is the most important point that can be criticized because one of the reasons that made it easier for scammers is that users use their accounts on the trading platforms as a wallet, and therefore the platforms give a unique address to each account without the possibility of changing it. Users continue to use that address as long as they use the platform, so scammers can deal with the matter more flexibly, as happens with addresses received on MetaMask.
Platform owners should be aware of this and enable users to change their addresses whenever they want or request it.

Bitcoin = Financial freedom
Always use the freshly created address to deposit in case you're going to deposit into an exchange because some exchanges do have an address expiry policy even though an address will never expire so be careful with that. And apart from that its a well-known fact the if you want to lose your coins then simply copy and paste the address without crosschecking it thoroughly.

Or better yet, watch out for clipboard-hijacking malware — whereas certain malware pastes a different wallet address(the hacker's address) compared to the one you copied(the supposedly recipient) and think you pasted.
