Estonia has two Unesco World Heritage sites. The historic old town of Tallinn is well known for its wonderfully preserved medieval architecture; more obscure is the Struve Geodetic Arc, which Estonia shares with Belarus, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Moldova, Russia, Sweden and Ukraine. It is a chain of survey triangulations stretching from Hammerfest in Norway to the Black Sea, which yielded the first accurate measurement of a meridian (now you know).

Not surprised if they would be first. Isn't it a tech leader in Europe? What other companies started there? Skype?

This is good news. But I would like to remind everyone that Blockchain technology getting acceptance in Estonia doesn't mean that suddenly the Estonian government is going to legalize Bitcoins. The Estonian government is treating the Blockchain technology as separate from Bitcoin. And I don't think that they are going to legalize BTC anytime soon.

True, there was no mention of bitcoin itself, just the Blockchain tech. I suppose aside from voting they'll find other uses for it - which need not necessarily mean they'll legalize bitcoin.

OK Wow. You seem not to like bitcoin or not comfortable with it? Why then do you receive your pay in Bitcoin Grin? Have noticed most people from developing countries don't actually like Cryptocurrency but won't stop milking it hard. There are probably few who really love crypto but are denied Signature Campaigns... kind of unfair if you ask me.
Have seen people on the forum who totally hate ICOs at thesame time  refuse to participate in any kind of Campaign.. that is being Principled sir.

Just like Americans would say, "if you hate America and its way of life why not move to North Korea & leave us alone?
If you don't like Bitcoin why not leave your space for those who cherish Bitcoin?

Hope this changes your mind.

Found this lovely article about the small country!

Quote
The small European country of Estonia aims to become the first crypto-country in the World. The country is already in the midst of digitizing its government services using Blockchain technology, the tech behind digital currencies like Bitcoin.
The Estonian government’s digitization project reached a whole new level in 2014, with the government’s e-residency program . Under the initiative, any individual around the world can file an online application to become a virtual Estonian citizen. As a digital citizen, he/she can access the same online platforms that Estonia’s physical economy is based on, and the same online public services that domestic Estonians use.
The adoption of Blockchain has also allowed Estonia to introduce an online voting system during national elections. However, only physical residents are allowed to vote under the system. The country is also involved in various public services projects that are powered by Blockchain, including health services, and originally planned for its own digital currency .
Other Blockchain developments worldwide
Aside from Estonia, various countries around the world are also adopting Blockchain in public-sector applications, with the latest EU country vying for the same position being
Slovenia...

Other governments should really adopt beautiful technology such as the Blockchain which can make National Elections impossible to hack and TOTALLY eliminate voters fraud instead looking for ways to kill Cryptocurrency.

Seems like government with hidden/evil agenda hates this new innovation. They really need to be compelled to do the right thing.
