Yes it is possible and it is very easy, just follow the forum rules and post some good posts. It is not easy?

It's possible and I think for a newbie like you, you don't really have to focus on what your rank is but rather focus on learning and trying to improve your knowledge to improve what you can post in return. Do not set the bar high and expect that you will get merits on each post you make because it will just lead you to being more desperate to receive one. If you want to become a Legendary than find a way to do so and not just expect for it to happen automatically.

As others have rightly said you can definitely rank up provided you’re consistent, and yet here on the forum because it’s a long journey for you. In the earlier system it was really easy all one had to do was post constructive post, and over a period of time they would rank up. However now not only do you need to post constructive posts, but even get people to like it and award you merits which seems tough but it’s fun too once you get the hang of it.

Yes, it is. But it's a really far goal to reach. There are many heroes/legendaries in this forum, who must have gained their activity and merit from the scratch. By the way, I don't think it is necessary for most people to become a hero/legendary to post, reply, discuss, buy/sell, or learn from the forum. Why not forget this time consuming goal and just start your journey in this forum from now? Cheesy

Why not? Obviously its possible if you have enough thrust for gathering knowledge rather than planning to earn money at the very beginning of your forum journey. Its the place where you will be able to get all necessary help from everyone to build your own knowledge vault. I think its easier for them to build their profile who have got the interest to spend quality times on forum. As a forum member i believe its just not a community here, all of us here is like a family. You will always get encouragement, advice's, proper directions and so many more things which are actually very important to build your own.

Just Becoming an hero/legendary isn't so necessary for you. Try to become a good contributor of this community by whom people will be be able to discover you as a value able and helpful user of this forum. Gather knowledge from forum's existing board and help others to resolve their problems. Believe it or not if you can follow those things than one day all these higher ranks will come to you as a reward.

You should note though you can still achieve your desire goals without having to be a data analyser or scam buster like everyone thinks to receive merits to get you to your desire rank. Sure doing so might get you their faster but just by contributing positively through quality conversation can still earned you some decent amount of merit to rank you up. Set goals, write them down and follow them up one step at a time, first try to rank up to jnr member, next set a target to member, full member etc until you reach your desire rank. The whole idea of the merit system was to reward quality posts so do just that (contribute positively) and you'll earn yourself some merits.

Although my case isn't newbie related, I did rank up from member now handing to hero which is somehow on the same level with newbie (just 10merit difference) since we all started on the forum as newbies and did all these while having fun and following up my set goals. Therefore you can achieve whatever you set your mind for, don't forget to improve your knowledge along the journey, very important.

Not easy, not effortless, not exempt from investing a fair amount of time (perhaps too overly).
I agree. Making data reports and help forum to busted scammers/cheaters is NOT easy job to do, those are deserving to have reward merits for me. And DdmrDdmr is one of the examples who gave to much effort in giving data analysis and I think it takes a lot of time in doing that work.

The great wall and the barrier to rank up is to have merit but if you are here just for fun never mind the merit(do quality post probably it will merited without knowing you), you can exchange dialogue from members here in your rank as long as you didn't harm other members and of course to obey the rules or must read the pinned post in Beginners & Help for newbies before posting.

I don't think it is a problem. Merit exist to appreciate good posters, not exclusive for tech guys. And getting merit there is not as easy as it sounds.
Guys like @nullius is just exception, and there are limited guys like @nullius, one of the shooting stars in the forum. There are so many ways to contribute and receive merits: from technical discussions/ help, data analytics, infographics, guides, scam accusations; or simple on-topic, and helpful posts that satisfy needs of thread's starters. Being naturally constructive, helpful and patient, merits will come later.

I'm one of those old Members who're now has enough merits to rank up to Legendary. It's possible, but you need to work hard (if that's your only goal here). If not, then just enjoy your stay.

In my opinion, this is a problem with the merit system. People are incentive to post there because it is easy to get merits there, and it is not a session where there are bitcoin or cryptocurrency related discussions, which is the focus of the forum.

Sure, you can rank up from scratch to Hero or Legendary member. There is a topic that observes and lists ranked up users.
⭐ Forum chronicle - UP Rank List - Congratulations! (BPIP Merit stat, Trust) ⭐
The list does  not point out which users are purely self-made users, which users are half-self-made users, but there are so many self-made Members, Full Members, and Senior Members. They all will become self-made Hero or Legendary in months and years to come if they will stay on their tracks.
Therefore, I believe that long list of ranked up users will stimulate you to start from scratch.

As you can see, 9 Old Era Newbies have made it to Hero, 40 Newbies (34+6) have reached Sr. Member, 111 Newbies (25+86) to Full Member, 3.357 to Member and 10.433 to Jr. Member.
Those you’re really focusing on now are the 9 Newbies that made it to Hero (nobody has had time (Activity) yet to make it to Legendary from Newbie starting from scratch under the Merit System).

I am one of those 9. Created an account with 0 merits, newbie.

I am going to confess that when I discovered this forum the merit system was just implemented, I though "I am fuked, i will never rank up". It was very hard to earn my firsts merits. One by one, really hard. My objective was to become one day a Full member (100 merits). It wasn`t effortless, but I enjoyed the path.

I learned a lot here, and after a few months I was more worried about  building a reputation here and enjoying the forum  than about ranking up...

The advice I can give you is: Enjoy the forum, read mastering bitcoin, watch you tube videos about great people in the ecosystem (vitalik buterin, antonopoulos, etc), study whateever you like here.

If you enjoy politics, go to politics and society board. If you make constructive posts there, you will be merited. Do you like statistics? Make some statistics about anything forum/bitcoin related and post here. Do you like religion? Go to off topic board. There is space here to rank up the way you like. Make your own path, there are no strict rules about how to rank up.

Meta appears to be where the merit rains. I'm not completely sure why.

If I remember rightly it took me about three and a bit years to become legendary under the old system which was of course a bunch simpler. All you had to do was shitpost for long enough without getting nuked.

Probably by the end of the year I'll have earned 1000 merits and the system was introduced in January 2018 so that's two or so years. I wouldn't exactly class myself as a quality poster but I try not to spout totally mindless shit. If I can do it then any old donkey can. All it takes is some alertness, interest and self awareness.

If it's an aim to do it from scratch for better or worse there are areas of this forum where you won't get enough merit no matter how good a poster you are. Alts is obviously the biggest merit desert as few users have any merit of their own to give away.

Meta appears to be where the merit rains. I'm not completely sure why.

As for buying an account, people are getting ever more vigilant about this and as it's so much harder to rank up they're more protective about any old asshole waltzing straight into a sold legendary account. I personally wouldn't ever feel totally at ease with an account like that. You never know when someone will unearth you.

I am alive but in hibernation.
Yes, You can take a look at this profile.

I think, many user who are capable of ranking up, are not interested in ranking up, or sometime leave the forum or just keep lurking.

Afterwards, all you see, "It is tough to rank up" type post.

The simple answer is yes, it is possible. Not easy, not effortless, not exempt from investing a fair amount of time (perhaps too overly), but possible (although improbable for the vast majority). This is a summary of those that have ranked-up to date, needing merits in the process:

As you can see, 9 Old Era Newbies have made it to Hero, 40 Newbies (34+6) have reached Sr. Member, 111 Newbies (25+86) to Full Member, 3.357 to Member and 10.433 to Jr. Member.

As I said, feasible, yes. Effortless, no. Likely, not easy in the big picture, but those who really do try do have a shot at it.

As to the purchasing an account, I left my opinion today here: re:Whats fair price for Legendary Account?

is it something us newbies should be hunting, up to the point of buying accounts which may eventually be tainted? I personally like the idea of being here just for fun and little dialogue exchange, but i dont know if i am heading in the right direction with this point of view.

Yes you can hunt for it, put in the effort, do your research, give out quality and relevant content, and learn as you grow.
And there is no right point of view, different people have different objectives for being members of this forum. You'd need to define yours and work towards that.

LoyceV on the road. Or couch.
It's possible, but not for most users.
Earning that much Merit takes a lot of time (and effort).

I've earned much less than 1 Merit per hour login time. It can be done though.

If you keep up good posting and receive the 1000 Merits and  you are active everyday and you dont get banned for an Reason or something it should be take you 1 and half to 2 years  because aou need 1000 Activity too for Rank up to an Legendary. But its possible for sure there are a few that have done that !

Wish ya Good luck and that you reach your goal without problems .

I believe people may say i am lazy but no,i just need to know what awaits me. With the introduction of merit systems (which is an innovating  idea i precise) it is more dificult to rank up, can i please know how long it may take for a newbie (like me) to become hero or legendary??is it something us newbies should be hunting, up to the point of buying accounts which may eventually be tainted? I personally like the idea of being here just for fun and little dialogue exchange, but i dont know if i am heading in the right direction with this point of view.
