From my own digging I like the look of Enjin, bringing a cryptocoin to video gaming is something I long thought overdue.  Real utility allowing trade within games and related services, a small market cap ticks a box too.

I must say I'm surprised at the lack of pumpers.  Don;t dismiss this range of investment, from my discussions of bitcoin and crypto with friends and online, $100 is the sort of amount people are able or willing to put in, to dip their toe.  Buying a fraction of a coin is psychologically off putting too, which makes a lot of big caps uninteresting.

Definitely go for small cap coins as they are high risk - high reward. I would recommend for example KZCash. Or you can check altcoin announcement section, choose your winner and wait  Cheesy

i think XVG is a good choice for that kind of criteria,
because every 1 year they are always made a move, doubling our initial investment is possible if you're investing your money on it.
also buying a newly reborn project in an exchanger is a good option,
for example PosToken,i do not know why i got a good feeling about this one.
and another project called Tracker(TKR) they will launch desktop software in the next few months later

i think you are going to need a find a coin/currency that has huge swings in value and then trade on an exchange to try and double your investment.
with exchange fees and other transfer fees it is going to be a difficult one.
as for us listing the coins for you, well you could potentially get 100 different options from everyone who thinks their coin is the one.

There's no time limit, and little expectation.  The object of the question is for ideas for speculative altcoins, a short list of some interesting fringe projects.

With $50 to $100 you might not get much even after a year

Indeed, 1 year may be short time, but with enough luck and research, great things can happen.
If he would have bought Monero in 2015, for 100$ he would have got maybe more than 150 XMR, which means $18k today.

But it's hard to get to that, OP should make his own research by himself. "Never take investment advises from random people over internet".

I will shoot a proposal: WAVES. Now it's under 5$ a piece and some say it could become a second Ethereum, which could mean "moon".

just like picking a lottery, find some coins that has low cap and supply, then keep monitoring and pray that the pnd groups will decide that is the one. And you also need to sell it during the pump, else it will just fall back pretty quickly.

With $50 to $100 you might not get much even after a year and talking about possible moon shot its hard to predict which one will rise hundred+ fold in future.

I still remember ripple making over 20x increase within few months, KMD and MCO making over 10x within a year time after ICO but you have to be extremely lucky and inside info to make nice profit in such big price surge.

What's a good crypto for a small outlay, say $50-100, for fun, speculation and possible moon shot.  Please explain any choices.
