I can say With certainty....Nope not necessary.

Longest running card....6870.....24/7 over a year now...It has had a few down times for cleaning and what not.

Set it and forget it! Make sure your temps are Stable . Most all my cards run in the 60-70c range. Use MSI afterburner to lower your MEM clock and card will run cooler.

Trying to find my way.
Well you certainly should keep temps at a stable level. For me personally I dont like temps reaching/going beyond 85C for my 2 7970s. However for that lower-end card you dont need to worry about temps getting that high. I remember when I used to mine with my 6790 temps never went beyond 72C inside my case. If you really want to make sure you should download a tool to monitor GPU temps, like MSI Afterburner. Who knows, maybe you could squeeze in a nice overclock while youre at it Wink

However, you wont need anything special or ghetto if youre using only 1 GPU.

A newbie question was probably asked and answered but I cannot find it...

I just started simple 1 PC mining with Radeon ATI 5770 (~130 mhash/s) and I am running it for 3 days w/o break. I don't have any special cooling system. Should I be worried about overheating, or PC suppose to handle it fine?

Thanks!
