I don't think you should categorize like that.
There are good projects and bad projects, some will make you money short term some of them long term.
My point is, good projects always go up  Wink.

I think you forget something, bitcoin and ethereum. Yes, both are excellent for short and long term investments. A little advice from me and the decision is yours.

I agree with you, bitcoin and ethereum are a good addition to the coins you would want to invest for long term and short term. But I think you would profit more with bitcoin if you go for short term and just be very careful though because its constantly moving and monitor it almost all the time. But as most of the commenters here says, the decision is always yours. Good luck though and happy trading!

Bitcoin and ether are the fundamental ones of the sector, this is the reality. But there are more besides them:

-Waves, Ardor, NEM, NEO, OMG for long term.

-IOTA and ETC for short term.

You can consider this if you have free budget available.

Hey everyone, I'm new here and I've just embarked on another journey of mine - learning about cryptocoins and wanting to invest in them.
I would also appreciate some tips on where to start looking on the topic of wanting to learn more about these coins and how to become educated on them as well, but for now, I am focusing on raking in some short-term investments and looking what would be beneficial in the long-term.
Don't believe what anyone says here OP most of them are just talking about their own portfolio is being good and profitable but some are good ones IMO. Still you must judge them yourself with our help I will just give you two tips in order to determine their potential for growth. The first tip is to look on the dev team's activity and whether or not they are constantly updating or not. If they are, then it is sure to be a profitable coin. Also, look for their roadmap and concept. Team's activeness alone ain't enough to determine potential of a coin, you must also consider their roadmap and concept. Using these two tips, judge what is good or bad by yourself.

hallo friend, how about bitcoin, ethereum, coindash, and monetha? bitcoin and ethereum I think is suitable for long term or short term. coindash and monetha suitable for long term. i heard coindash and monetha will pump the price in 2018.

i agree about bitcoin because i already tested it and both actually works on short term and long term whether it is an investment or for trading. some altcoins like etherium and others that you mention are mainly works for a longer term based on my own observations its because they tend to increase slowly but surely and also most of them are quite stable just like etherium which is good to hold if your looking for a lesser risk investment and to earn a stable profit at the same time.

Due diligence is fundamental in the choice of the coin to invest your money in. There is no suggestion to make or say names of coins you might buy for both short or longer term. You might get just more confused. Nevertheless, you already know which is your pick(s).

yeah i also agree with this. @op overall you should the one who make your own research and to decide which coin suites you the most because there were time that others strategy might work for them but might not work for you, so youd better go on your own to avoid blaming others if all fails. just always remember the golden rule which is never invest on what you can afford to loose. goodluck Smiley

It’s your decision to make which one you would go for long term but I would suggest you make bitcoin for your long term goals and altcoins whichever you choose from for short term goals.

It is difficult to ask and heed advice here because people are going to shill their own coins basically and because of that you must do your research to cobborate their story or not. I will comment on your list however to make things easier for you. Basically out of all of those I would not attain Dogecoin, FunCoin, Ripple, and I don't know what CREA is unless you meant Cream? The other ones seem like all fine grabs the only left is your entry because as you know the market is volatile.

Hey everyone, I'm new here and I've just embarked on another journey of mine - learning about cryptocoins and wanting to invest in them.

I am looking for some good advice when it comes to short-term coins to invest in, but also long-term coins.
Basically, I'm looking for the best (mostly cheap - preferably - though I'm also considering buying 0.00x amount of BTC) coins I can invest in just this month, the coming 3 weeks, for one part of my planned budget,
and then also the best coins for me to keep an eye on for the long-term. Ones I've heard and been told about are Stratis, Dogecoin (I find this one questionable), FunCoin, LISK, Ripple, NEM, CREA, Ripple, Cardano, Nxt, Ark and Steem. Quite the list and I'm starting pretty small right now, but I'd like to hear if any of these coins have any merit and which other coins I should definitely look into. Any additional reasons would be welcome too, always happy to learn some of the why's behind it all.

I would also appreciate some tips on where to start looking on the topic of wanting to learn more about these coins and how to become educated on them as well, but for now, I am focusing on raking in some short-term investments and looking what would be beneficial in the long-term.
