I think it's a bit of both really but I've wondered the same. There was a few newbie mining question threads today and I didn't know whether they belonged there or in Mining.

I would say they belong in whichever the poster feels more comfortable posting in, rather than the actual content. Isn't that what the newbie section is for; a place where you don't feel intimidated or that your question is too basic?

Not really.

I believe that the forums needs more maneuverability. You need to be able to find the exact kind of posts , pertaining to the exact topic of the subforum.

Currently , the beginners and help subforum has a multitude of questions from all subforums. Other than this , those subforums have the remaining half of the questions.

I guess it can be everything if posted by a newbie user.

Newbie users are no longer restricted.
So , what exactly is the purpose of the Beginners and help forums ?

I agree with hilariousandco that it is a bit of both.

For example, I have found threads like "What ASIC should I buy?" in both "Beginners & Help" and "Mining speculation", and it seems the mods of both sections are happy with the threads. Smiley

It is these ambiguous barries between subforums I was hoping the forum could define.

Maybe a flow chart or so that is stickied.

No new topic should make you wonder , you should always know exactly which topic, or there should be prompts to help you know it definitely.

What exactly fits into Beginners & Help ?

Should a question which is related to a specific subforum , such as a question about loans , be in the specific subforum (Lending) or should it be in Beginners and Help ?

Also , wouldn't it be beneficial to make something like a quick help chat or something , to dispel all these questions ? That could be helpful in the new forum , which would pretty much eliminate the need for the Beginners and Help forum.

EDIT: I just realised the irony. Does this fit in Meta or Beginners and Help ?
