MSI reference model (unlockable shaders) 2gb 6950's are $280 bucks on newegg, $260 after rebate.  I'm getting over 400 mhash/s with unlocked shaders, 950 mhz core, 600 memory, 53% fan, and I'm using the flags -v -w128 -f0.

I did the math not too long ago for this.  Some conservative numbers:

3x5830 (@ $109/e): 750mh/s
2x6950 (@ $209/e): 660mh/s
1x6990 (@ $700/e): 700mh/s

To me, the sweet spot was 5830s for price per mh/s, but I ultimately got a 5830 and a 6950 for my two computers.
Agree with 5830, im getting 300mhash @ XFX5830

some places you can find 5970 for around 450-500 used if your lucky then those would be the best probly unless you got alot of pcie slots to run alot of the cheaper cards.

5870s if you can get them, 6970s otherwise.

If you can stretch your budget to the 700 area then a 5970/6990 would do. Tongue
I would go for 700 area when possible.

What would be the best 2 or 3 mining cards to get for 400 - 500 bucks in terms of mh/s per second.
