I got one of these same cards. Only tweaking I did was with TRIXX.
I'm getting 480 khash out of it with core clock of 895 and mem clock of 1475. been running stable for a couple months now. Temp doesn't go over 75C.

Thanks for the response. I found I can use the "powertune" option to slightly reduce the voltage.  -6 Powertune seems to give the most reduction for least loss of hashrate

I use Sapphire TRIXX, with my 6950s i get around 460 khash for LTC.

I had an 1GB 6950 (single fan) which gave me around 440khs stock. Cant remember the voltage. Flashing to 6970 bios (i think this is what u meant) is not a good idea. U already got 1536 shader count (6950: 1408 /6970: 1536) so this will give you no advantage.

Maybe you can edit your stock bios with RBE and flash it back with changed voltage.

Did you try to change the voltage with MSI AB or Trixx?

I have two of these VisionTek 6950s

They use 1.10V each and do about 300-400khs each (scrypt)

I have the stock BIOS

I was wondering if someone had some suggestions to optimize my power usage?  It seems 1.10V is really high.  Could I not somehow lower it to around 1V? Stock bios doesn't seem to allow me to go below 1.10V, so I probably need to flash it.  I tried the flashing to the sapphire 7970, but trying to mine just gave HW ERRORS so that BIOS didnt work on my (non-reference) card
