I am from Turkey.

I wonder what is the best Bitcoin-related thing to do in a country like Turkey.

  • There are two exchanges, of which I don't really know the volume
  • Not much business accept Bitcoin

What are your thoughts?
What did the people in other similar countries do?

First thing I will do (and this that I do with my bitcoins) is to leave those in my wallet, to try to increase their amount using several ways (purchasing or using some other ways which don't need spending of money and give few but continues amounts) and to be sure that no hacker can steal those to me.

The second one (way) that you Can (must) to follow is to find a good trader and to learn from him how to trade with those. This way is to risky but can give you more bitcoins and, in this way, more satisfaction.

The choice to you.

You should put your bitcoins to use. Develop a business plan which includes the use of bitcoins, spread awareness and educate people about bitcoins. you don't have to restrict yourself to your country, bitcoin is a global currency! Use it in international trading if you can.

Yeah, I was really happy to learn about businesses which allow you to buy stocks using your btw. Investing money using your investments is a nice concept lol. Investeption Tongue Stocks are a smart man's game, and I am hoping to make some good returns with it.

Instead of thinking how to give rise to a business, think about how to create a new market for bitcoin. I would like to advise that if you do open a business related to bitcoin, it could either be a business that processes the transactions or accept it as a mode of receiving payment.

I think the network can scale pretty easily without offchain transactions, but even if you don't there is no need for all the benefits of total decentralization in every transaction. Quasi-decentralization is plenty for most purposes, as long as you can pay extra for more. btc is digital gold, which means you can send it, store it, verify it and program it very easily. Maybe we don't need businesses, only reliable exchanges to go to the moon.

You can start trading with bitcoin digital currency buying and selling, for that you need consumers, start educating them about bitcoins, explain and encourage the benefits of bitcoins, show them the variable between bitcoin digital currency and fiat currency. Good Luck !!

For now to create a new market with bitcoin is rather hard enough because you need a mass adoption to get people know bitcoin, if there is a little bit

of people know bitcoin it will ruin your business too cause of little transaction

I would create a website that not only targets turkeys but worldwide users. That way you have income when turkey isn't working.

Then you might advertise the website in turkey as the "turkey bitcoin website..." whatsoever. That might lead to more adoption of bitcoin in your country.

Open a trading platform just for the people of turkey and earn commissions. Start an eCommerce platform and accept bitcoins as mode of payment. And then sell those bitcoins in the international market.

He said there already are 2 exchanges (trading platforms), if there's not enough users (volume) opening another one wouldn't make much sense (unless those 2 are crappy ones).

If you meant altcoin trading platforms, then anyone from Turkey can use already established ones (Cryptsy, poloniex etc).

Ecommerce platform would require lots of customers and massive funds to get traction.

@OP, you could start with small online shop, just pick something that sells well, buy in bulk with discount from wholesaler, accept both BTC and fiat. You wouldn't have to be cheapest, but by accepting BTC you would get some extra exposure (free advertising on bitcoin directories and forums) and you'd have small advantage over competitors, especially if you provide international shipping.

What about fractional gold? You have few refineries in Turkey. I remember Nadir had fractional gold bars (below 1 gram; i.e. 0.1g or 0.05g), these could sell well for BTC, especially that most of sites that sell gold for bitcoins are based in US and shipping costs kill it for European buyers (and they don't offer fractional bars).

Wait. But in reality you, on your own are only a small cog in the machine. All you can do is to share your knowledge and spread information about bitcoin.
If you try to creating business in the environment where people don't know bitcoin is would be a fail from the economic point of view. First you need to wait and spread the information.

The very first thing any country needs in terms of bitcoins is exchange services. Are those 2 you mentioned legit/registered?
You can always try your luck and register on local bitcoins, if no one else does it in your area, you can possibly earn decent money with little effort. Just make sure it is legal (declare your profits and pay taxes etc.) and never trade for cash in obscure places.

If there aren't many informational websites on what BTC is in Turkish, you could set up one, possibly add some faucet and get some advert income if traffic is high enough.

Loose lips sink sigs!
Start an organization that allows supporters of Bitcoin celebrate the currency, educate the community, and help businesses realize how easy it is to accept bictoin for payment for goods and services. Education for all parties is a great way to get people interested.

Would the people of Turkey take kindly to hear how Bitcoin is assisting in their economic troubles?

Let us know how it goes.
