Localbitcoins.com is one of the best exchanges for bitcoin - USD pair if you're living in the US. Escrow options are available within the site and I personally have used it without any issues, I have never heard of any complaints from users using their site.

Trying to figure out the best way to go from USD to Bitcoin and back. I created an account with Coinbase but in the process of resetting my password it says my account is temporarily locked. I tried contacting their support but it says it may take a couple of days for a response which makes me frustrated.

yes I have face same with Coinbase. They take time for reply.

For a simpler and an understanding exchange, I suggest you use binance,it's very easy to trade unlike other exchangers.

Try a good English exchange with the possibility of convenient trading, the exchange of BTC on USD and its withdrawal to Visa / Mastercard

The top two exchanges in my opinion, and this is just from my personal experience, are coinbase.com and bitstamp.net. Between these two exchanges, especially if you can make a wire transfer and ACH transfer, or a SEPA transfer in Europe, you should be able to buy Bitcoin on either of them.

Coinbase is available in 30 plus countries and I think that you can use Bitstamp in most of the world if you can make a wire transfer over there.

Kraken.com and gdax.com may also work for you, as well as gemini.com and xbtce.com.

Finally, you have localbitcoins.com and wallofcoins.com.

The only one i use is Bitstamp.net. I normally do transactions: btc to usd and vice versa. With this company i´m absolutely satisfied and i have been using it for many years now.
There was no problem with her and i can only recommend it. Of course, you must be a verified user.

Wasn't able to get a Coinbase account setup and their support never got back to me. Tried setting up a Kraken account today but the activation link doesn't work and their support seems non-existant just an automated email which is no help.

It's a good thing I'm not having an actual problem involving money.

Kraken's automated support says they delete unverified accounts every 2 hours so I'll give them another shot and if not onto a different exchange. Can't believe I'm having so much trouble just setting an account up.  Huh

Do need actually fiat or a usd equivalent good enough? If an equivalent is good enough, you can sell your bitcoins for usdt. Usdt is a cryptocurrency that is pegged to the dollar. You can trade it on hitbtc binance and most of the major crypto exchanges.

If you need actual fiat, try localbitcoins.

I need to be able to convert it into dollars so I can cover mining expenses.

Payza and Skrill can also be considered. I personally haven't tried them though.

I tried with some strategy  when i'm exchange with USD. Coinbase is good for buy bitcoin with reasonable rates. And cex.io has higher selling rate. When you are selling BTC on cex.io , it is more profitable. you very careful market analyse before use this strategy.

I've been hearing a lot of bad things about Coinbase whereas funds are getting locked up; I suggest using Gemini[1] instead. So far I haven't head any bad news about it.

Do NOT use USDT. Or if you were to use it, only hold it for less than a week maximum.

I find Gemini good because the exchange rate is good and fees is also less. But they deal only with bitcoin and ETH.
